Wants an XBOX purely for Minecraft!?!

I don't see the obsession with Minecraft. My DD 10 (soon to be 11) uses the IPAD to play Minecraft and watch the irritating videos on YouTube.

With her birthday being in the summer hols, I like to buy her something which I know she will get good use of. I was all set to get her an IPAD MINI....however she says she is hoping for a bloody XBOX so she can play Minecraft.

I am so annoyed. We had an XBOX last year but only kept it for 2 months as no one understood how to operate it!

Is Minecraft really any different on the XBOX than the APP? She says she will need headphones to chat with other players. Not sure I am liking the idea of this.

Please educate me - I am very naive with technology

Get a second hand Xbox 360 original. Mine only cost us £45 with games, hardrive and controllers. It's broken now, but we've had it three years. Repairing it will cost £19.99 if I do it myself.

Dd1 plays Minecraft on every platform they have, but prefers the X-Box because it's what her friends have so she is able to "meet" them online ingame. You need to subscribe to X-Box Live for that, ours is £6 a month for the Gold package.

I sue my X-box daily, mainly as a media center. We use Netlix and stream media from the PC. Vevo is good too, we've no music channels with our TV package so I use that a lot.

The main difference is that multiple players can play on the xbox iirc from what ds said I wasn't listening properly though I know he doesn't like the PC version.

Yes it is very different. My ds is 7 and he had minecraft on the iPad but we ended up buying him an Xbox second hand so he could play the same version as a friends. We then got him xbox live and a headset so he can play with his friends.
