BBQ items - both shop bought and homemade (vegetarian not vegan)

We’re having a BBQ ahead of the football on Saturday. Mainly meat eaters but a few vegetarians (not vegan). These vegetarians eat all cheeses.

We do have a separate BBQ which we use only for non-meat items

Meat eaters will be having homemade burgers, sausages from the butchers and chicken drunsticks.

For the vegetarians:
I am planning on buying plant based burgers and sausages, so would appreciate recommendations for best ones (will be from Tesco).

For everyone: vegetable kebabs made with courgettes, mushrooms, onions, peppers, halloumi -ossibly a bit boring? I would welcome I alternative vegetable deas that could be eaten by all.

Also one more vegetarian option, as the meat eaters will have 3 (burgers, sausage and chicken), vegetarians only have burger and sausage. Or maybe I just make them extra kebabs?
Sides will be suitable for all - not finalised yet but will include homemade coleslaw and a mixed salad. Other thoughts please - nothing too ‘carby’ as the burgers and sausages will be in rolls.

Thank you.

As per OP we have a separate small BBQ that is only used for vegetarian food.
I said this on another thread - and people didn’t believe - our oven doesn’t heat the kitchen too much, apart from the obvious blast when the door is opened to take stuff out

Gosh you have got everything covered lol. Sounds like a brilliant bbq.

Asparagus Bbqs really well. I make halloumi burgers because I am hard to please. This isn’t range is pretty ok, and I do little foil parcels of par boiled new potatoes with garlic butter which come up beautifully. Corn on the cob. Courgette, mushroom, tomato and paneer skewers. I also like to do stuffed chestnut mushrooms (for some reason portobello are too wet and go weird) I stuff them with garlic, cream cheese, fresh herbs and breadcrumbs. I have also done mini stuffed peppers for dd1 and used this isn’t bacon pieces. Wild mushrooms marinated with garlic and herbs, Bbq for a few minutes then baste with a Bbq style sauce and finish off on the grill for 2 minutes, delicious as is or as a burger topping. In fake meat Vivera steaks are much nicer Bbq’d than not I really like them done that way but not so fussed on them cooked indoors. My favourite though is just halloumi slices but I have no shame 😳

A few people mentioned pesto - I would avoid having anything with pesto at someone else's house as it usually isn't vegetarian and I wouldn't want to ask the host if they've got the veggie version or not.

A good point, generally, but these veggie friends are pretty relaxed - they all eat all cheese for example. As long as they aren’t eating dead animals, as one put it, they are fine.

I cook my veggie BBQ stuff in foil trays so it doesn't get contaminated from the meat, it also saves it all from sticking to the BBQ.

I love the Linda McCartney mozzarella burgers, and the Richmond veggie sausages (fresh). I've also BBQ'ed Gosh falafel (the moroccan spiced ones are divine) and these are great in a pitta bread with salad.

Please do be aware that many vegans/vegetarians absolutely hate mushy things like chickpeas or vegetables mixed with breadcrumbs formed into patties and being presented as "burgers" or "sausages". I refuse to eat them even if they are "homemade". There are a few decent ones you can buy, but they will be made with seitan (vital wheat gluten and/or pea protein) and have a texture that is "meaty" and chewy rather than mush.

We have 12 for a BBQ tomorrow. 5 veggies and 7 meat eaters.

We have 2 barbies. One meat one veggie.

The menu goes...
Meat sausage and meat burger ×7.

Veggie sausage and veggie burger x5 (fake meat).

12 whole corns and a hot honey butter for glazing.

Then I've made:

Smashed potato salad.
Coronation chickpeas.
Black bean and wild rice salad (with other stuff)
And a tomato, basil and spinach orzo salad.

All the condiments.

I have ice creams/fruity ices/kulfi for after.

I might marinade some paneer and stick it on after all the immediate cooking is done, ready for flat breads the next day.
