Any recommendations from a vegan shop?

I went to a vegan shop today for a browse. I'm attempting to transition to vegan from veggie. I was a bit overwhelmed by all the stock and how expensive some of it was. I came away with some vegan stock cubes and a vegan cream egg!!

Any recommendations for stuff that's worth buying in a specialist shop like that? For example, I noticed they had egg replacement products. I do like to bake...are they worth it?

Well yes, I do buy real food. I already know that's good.

I just wondered if any of the stuff you typically find in these places is worth a whirl.

No - DD is vegan and we bake all the time - bananas/apples/dates are great - she made a butter bean Blondie (subbing for chickpeas) that was really nice recently.

Thank you. I'll look out some vegan cake recipes and start with the ones that don't ask for egg replacement

Have you had nutritional yeast yet? They might have some different brands in a vegan shop. Supermarkets only seem to have one or possibly two of you're lucky. I'm not vegan but in my attempt to cut down on dairy products I now have nutritional yeast on tomato pasta and prefer it to cheese. It's also great in risotto.

Nutritional yeast definitely but you can get that in supermarkets

decent spices as well for food

try different milks love oat for coffee and cereal and soya for cookkng

They had massive tubs of nutritional yeast - way bigger than the supermarket. I'll try the smaller tubs first - I was wondering how to use it but maybe I'll try it on pasta and stuff, I hadn't thought of that.

Did you see any things that caught your eye? Any brand names etc.?

Applesauce is a great egg replacement. I have a relative with an egg allergy and started baking cakes for them with applesauce instead and I prefer them now to traditional ones.

Oooh use nutritional yeast like you would parmesan, sprinkle it over your pasta dishes!
Also great stirred into a tin of baked beans for a "cheesy" taste.
As for egg replacements, don't bother, I've found them to be a load of crap when it comes to stuff like baking.
Far better to use Google instead and find some lovely vegan cake etc recipes.
Try different cheeses if you can, I found some Tyne Chease in a vegan supermarket which was absolutely amazing. Feta cubes are usually good too

I like the mushroom pate in a tube

Specialist vegan shops sadly are expensive and I do like to support Independents, but Tesco and Sainsburys tend to have a lot of the same stuff these days.
I saw aquafaba egg replacement in Sainsbury’s yesterday in the cookery aisle
