Vegan food market Stall

Ever since I was 12 years old, I've wanted to open my own tea shop ( had a menu and everything lol) Im not sure I'll ever be able to get to that point, but I'm thinking of market stall in my town. The local council are really encouraging of new start ups on the market.
(This would be in addition to my job I already have btw)also wouldn't be until sometime mid to late next year because at the moment I am having treatment for cancer, and am going to be having open heart surgery at the beginning of next year to remove a benign tumor they found ~ obviously I've alot of time on my hands at the mo so spend alot of time thinking.
So, my question is, what would you buy from a vegan market stall? I have so many ideas my, I need to narrow it down, but would be interested to hear what other people would like to buy?
Thanks in advance for indulging me in my little dream 🙂

I’m not vegan but if my vegan friends are anything to go by they want cakes and maybe vegan cheese toasties.

If you don’t want to market just to vegans you could sell something that is already vegan, salad bowls maybe? Falafel?

It's not really about what people want It's about what you are good at and like to do!

All the best for you treatment and recovery.

That's a very good point you make about doing what I'm good at, should have thought of it that way. Toasties and cakes were two of the things I was thinking of myself 🙂 thank you for the good wishes, half way through the chemo, ticking off the weeks. X

I like vegan food but im not vegan. We have a vegan cafe in our village and it does well and a lady who delivers mostly raw food menus. It's not even that posh an area!

Vegan food (and my vegan friends) seems to fall in two camps:

  • the first is more junky, treat food that's vegan - donuts, hotdogs, freak shakes, burgers.
  • the second is more whole food types

I'm gluten free so that's always a draw at food markets as is dairy free. I like food that's naturally gluten free rather than replacements. What about really good salads - which are harder to make at home due to the volume of chopping

I also love proper bean burgers - not fake meat - but spicy bean burgers with satay sauce. Or pies that can go in the freezer as easy meals?

Or good tasty basics like samosas (sadly not gluten free) but cheap and the kind of thing that you get repeat trade for.

Cakes work well but I can get them anywhere. Great lunches or nourishing food (like a veg chilli or mushroom stroganoff) I can take home will make me go out if my way to visit.

Also maybe carry some basic groceries too. Pasta sauce, vegan cheeses etc

Good luck with the treatment, hopefully this gives you something to think about

Thanks for all your suggestions, been toying with a line if thinking similar to yours too, and, yes, it does tend fall into two groups doesn't it, there is one vegan cafe in my town that sells pastries, bread and amazing French food, they do amazingly well, I'm only in a smallish non posh town too🤣

I'd buy ingredients too- miso paste, tahini, nutritional yeast, nuts, seeds, usual vegan fare. I'd rather buy it from you than the supermarket or holland and Barrett.

Vegan cakes if they were decent and same as above- bean burgers etc.
