Vegan protein for holiday

I’m off on a 3 week holiday to Italy and don’t know how easy it will be to get enough protein in my diet when I’m away. I’m thinking of bringing some bits with me. E.g protein bars / nuts but don’t want it to take much space / weigh much. Anyone got any ideas please?

Why not just take some protein powder? You could take some of the 'clear' protein stuff that mixes with water - I have some in the cupboard but not tried it yet!

We have just come back from Sicily and didn't eat much protein some days unfortunately.

I'm not sure where you're going and if you will have access to a kitchen but most supermarkets did have oat milk, soya milk, tofu, hummus and some vegan nuggets etc. You can also buy tinned chickpeas and other pulses which are my staples.

When eating out there were some vegan restaurants and some with good vegan options. (We used the Happy Cow app). For others where DH wanted fish, it was pasta with tomato sauce or pizza without cheese which are not so good.

Thank you. I think I will take my protein powder. I usually use a blender for shakes but I do have a shaker cup thingy. I’ll test that out and see how it works.

Where in Italy? Farinata/Socca (chickpea flatbread) is very big in on the Mediterranean coast/border with that bit next to Monaco.

What makes you think you are going to be unable to eat protein?

You are going to a country renowned for its food and you are planning to put ultra-processed food in your luggage? Why?

Plenty of vegan options everywhere even if they are not labelled "vegan" . So many vegetable dishes, soups, bean-based options. If you are felling deprived, the local supermarket will have tofu in the fridge section

Italy was pretty good for vegan food in my opinion, but you can take a tub of nutritional yeast.

They do have supermarkets where you can buy vegan protein sauces fresh too - and things like protein bars, tofu, nuts etc.

It's extremely hard to be deficient in protein as it is literally present in everything. But if you're really worried, beans aren't usually hard to find and they're absolutely packed with protein. Also nuts.
