Nutritional yeast flakes

What benefits do they have and how do I use them?
Made a lovely butter bean stew for my lunch: is that the kind of meal that yeast flakes would be sprinkled on?

They are full of vitamins and also taste kind of cheesy and savoury. I don't sprinkle them over food but use them as an ingredient

I can't really remember what benefits they have, but Google will tell you! I used to make a 'cheese' sauce with them and sprinkle them on lots of things, because I liked them (overseas) BUT I've had some in the U.K., that weren't all that nice.

Good luck.

I eat them straight out of the pot - I just love them. And I'm not even vegan!

I always add them to mashed potatoes - so so good!!!

B12 is added to some brands. Engevita is one of them.

It's very useful for making 'cheese' sauces. Great for a savoury sprinkle on top of soups, roasting vegetables. When you discover more recipes you'll find lots of uses for it.

They are fortified with vit b12. I like to add them to scrambled tofu.

I read somewhere you lose the nutritional benefits if you hear them over 100 degrees. Still fab in a white sauce though.

Thanks everyone for some good ideas.

I'm not vegan but cook for vegan friends often. Nutritional yeast great as a swap for Parmesan and mean you can make a delicious vegan risotto.

Nice sprinkled over avocado toast.

I think they'd be good in a butterbean stew, too. Give a savoury, slightly cheesy flavour.

They're usually a good source of B12 which is important in a vegan diet.
They can be used in anything, I personally love it stirred into pasta, or added to chickpea pancake mix.
