Eat your normal diet?

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 18/08/2021 05:54

A vegan diet shouldn't cause such drastic changes in digestion and health
What on Earth are you eating and what were you eating before?

Alonelonelylonersbadidea · 18/08/2021 06:19

How bad was your diet before? If you went from having virtually no fibre to lentils/pulses lots of fruit and veg every day then that would account for the diarrhoea and constipation but the other stuff? I'm not sure unless you are withdrawing from junk food or something. A vegan diet is really just a normal diet without the bad cholesterol.
Maybe reduce the fibre a bit and add in something you'd normally eat. Or just eat as you would normally anyway. It's an odd vegan who is going to force things on you!

This isn’t normal for a vegan diet. More likely to be because you have changed from a very junk filled diet to one with lots more fruit and veg, or maybe the other way round where you were eating a healthy varied diet filled with pulses and veg and are now reliant on vegan junk food alternatives. Impossible for us to say without seeing what you were and are now eating. If it is that your diet is now much healthier, maybe try seeing these symptoms as a temporary thing which inspires you to eating better in the long term. Alternatively if it is because you are relying on vegan junk food, is it because you are lacking confidence in what to cook for your guest? If so, I’m sure people here could help with ideas

I don't think a change in diet would affect your blood pressure within 10 days. That's surely a longer term impact.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 18/08/2021 07:00

Huge amount of research shows vegan diet lowers blood pressure so not at all surprised and great if you had a problem!

As others have said if your diet was terrible before then there is a detox phase. Are you eating enough though?

I can easily see how a vegan diet could alter BP, but within 10 days....??

Schooly · 18/08/2021 08:31

Can you give us a description of what you eat now and what you were eating?

I agree with PPs that maybe you’re eating a lot of fibre all of a sudden? (Pulses, fruit, veg.)

KittenKong · 18/08/2021 08:35

Are you eating ready made ‘alternatives’? I find vegan versions of things like sausages and coleslaw have some ingredient that makes me feel nauseous.

RubyGoat · 18/08/2021 15:47

Are you eating quorn products, do you usually? It doesn’t agree with everyone. Other possibilities are an increase in fibre, soy or onions & garlic.
