Vegan Christmas ideas

I know it's only September but I may be away for 2-3 months between now and the end of the year.
One of our Christmas guests is vegan and will probably be staying with us for at least a week.
Only additional dietary requirements I'm aware of is that he doesn't like anything 'stew like'. So bang goes my go to vegetable tagine. Not sure if that would include vegetable curry but will find out.
Ideally I'd like for this guest not to feel too different. the family and other guests are meat eaters but the vegan guest assures us that he is ok with others eating non-vegan food at the same table.
So id appreciate your help with lots of things:

  1. Christmas Day main course which would work well with the traditional Christmas vegetables
  2. desserts that aren't purely fruit based
  3. shop bought snacks
  4. your favourite main course that could be served alongside cooked meats
  5. anything you get sick of being served - eg I'd like to make a whole roast cauliflower but if this is served too öften id rather know !

Plus any other hints/tips that would. Help you enjoy Christmas foods in a home full of meat eaters. Thanks x

If you're looking for shop bought mains to go with veg there will be plenty around close to Christmas - things like nut roasts, mushroom or beetroot wellington, meat substitutes (tofu/seitan) & pies (clives are good)

Hellman's vegan mayo, nut butters, oatly semi & cashew milk are staples in my house but it might be worth asking what basics they normally get!

Red cabbage german style. Really good Christmassy side dish that everyone would like.

Sprouts and chestnuts.

Ok, here's what you do. You get some nice beetroot, and lettuce. Get some linseed, and stir it all together, with some nice Bolivian oil.
Then, go outside and pick loads of grass. Mix that in as well. Now, Serve it up! Much better than roast beef, and best of all, Feed some to the cat and it will cure its stomach problems! You know, because they eat grass. Loads of fiber, too!
My family loved this, although they say that they'll bring food next time. Ha! Silly family. Grin

Merry, Healthy Christmas! Smile

Asda are doing a turkey and stuffing type thing for 2.99 so will probably go for that.

We're having the naked glory roast chicken pieces for our Christmas Dinner. My husband is vegan and I was vegetarian for 20 years. I've eaten so many Christmas dinners with main dishes that don't go, ie, pastry which goes soggy with the gravy, and means yorkies are a carb overload, things with cheese, nut loaf that's basically another stuffing (and I prefer paxo!). This year I've decided to make it really simple and go for a meat alternative that actually belongs on a roast dinner plate
