I was in Asda today and noticed all the plant based section. I really think it's amazing and I am so happy that people are becoming vegan. It is on my agenda. Seeing and hearing about so many more people becoming vegan and vegetarian made me wonder if there has been many success stories? As in has there been less animals killed for meat over recent years. Is there any success stories of less cows being separated from their babies... etc?

I dont have any hard evidence but anecdotally, I did read about a dairy firm reducing their production drastically and there seems to be a few stories of dairy and meat farmers "fighting back" against.veganism which would seem to suggest that veganism is now being taken seriously.

There was a lovely story in the news 2 or 3 years ago about a vegetarian farmer who gave up his cows to a sanctuary and took up farming vegan products instead. Not sure how that has gone, but it was a lovely story

It will be interesting to see if the new supermarket ranges are here to stay. There's been a bit of an explosion recently but vegans are still a relatively small section of the population. Obviously not suggesting that only vegans buy those products of course. I noticed that Vegan Life magazine has just shut down. I did wonder if the number of vegan mags on the shelves were sustainable. I agree that there's bound to be a bit of a fightback by the meat and dairy industry at some point. I wonder what the marketing will be? 'Eat these real meat sausages... they're full of such good things for you'?

It might be more about people realising that they don't have to eat meat at every meal and that even if they don't want to be vegetarian they can seriously cut down and that benefits the environment.

Which is progress!

I read an article at the beginning of the month (think it might have been on Peta) which states that in the first half of 2019 there were 3.6m less animals sent for slaughter than in 2018.

That sounds like good news for rather a lot of animals
