Hello!

I am normally pescatarian, but don’t eat all that much fish iyswim.

I am trying to introduce more healthy, vegan meals into my family meal plans and am thinking of giving the FoK meal plan a whirl.

Has anyone tried it please?

It is plant based whole food recipes I think. So, healthy and vegan.

I pretty much eat the FOK way. So basically plant based, but also salt, oil and sugar free. It's great for me and DH, but I find I have to add sufficient fats for our dc's. They need much more nut butters, a drizzle of olive oil etc otherwise they have to eat A LOT to have taken in sufficient daily calories.
For adults, it's great thought IMO.

My parents and now my mom still does (my dad has past away since) follow the FoK meal plans.. she has the book full of recipes but I think they're all online as well or a lot of them at least. My aunt does it too and they both have noticed major health improvements.. for my aunt her rheumatoid arthritis has severely improved, my cousin who more or less follows it but not as strictly has her PCOS reversed for the most part and from that she now has an adorable little boy who is almost 1. I tried it for a while but I was an au pair and so living with a family who doesn't follow it is really difficult I am now with my partner and expecting a little girl in August so when she's born we will both start living more according to it since I have seen a lot of benefits throughout my family who follow it. My partner has some major health issues so I am sure it will help him improve as well.

Yes, I did it fairly rigorously for a year and then less strictly in that I now use a small amount of cooking oil, and occasional processed food. Still don't use any salt or processed sugar in cooking though.

The FoK recipe book is very good, although look out for recipes within recipes - something looks simple and then you realise it calls for a cup of No Cheese Sauce, turn to page whatever. Also some of the recipes are a bit sad (lettuce wraps?!) or a bit mad (take six cups of arugula....) so trial and error is called for.

If you are cooking for a family then the FoK plan tends to be a bit low in fats for children. I can strongly recommend Dreena Burton's books for WFPB family recipes, and she has a facebook group too. I've never had a duff recipe from her books.
