a mad question - sorry

background - my flat is insanely hot as soon it gets above 22 outside. it's a small studio in a big block, so after the first sunny days, it's boiling till November, it doesn't cool down at all, it's quite something.

I find it unbearable to turn the oven on in this weather but I have a bunch of Linda Mc frozen burgers. Is it okay to put them in the slow cooker? That can be plugged in the corner of the kitchen furthest from my sofa, and doesn't really emanate heat, though it gets hot itself.

i know frozen meat can't go in a slow cooker but would something like this be okay? Also any idea how long it would take? I am getting sick of cold tofu.

thanks.

I've never tried but think it's probably cooked through already so you're just hearing it. Shouldn't matter too much? Try once and see what happens?

I've tried frozen meat a few times and it's fine.
As PP said, maybe sacrifice a Linda burger and see if it works. There's nothing in there to harm you.

I'll give it a try....no idea how to time it but I'll try an hour on high or something? Thanks.

put a solar panal in your window. That absorbs heat and cools the room down hugely, and you can charge your phone from it!

If you mean a reflective one, that would be awful for the opposite block.

I do have dark film on the window and it was a waste of money - put it on myself - doesn't cool the place even one degree.

It's okay, the heating bills are very low indeed.

OMD I just looked up the cost!
And I didn't want to waste a veggie burger! Sorry, def not in my price range.

WTF?

Slimthistime · 15/06/2017 00:43

Sorry Shaking
I did say it was a mad question. Bit hinestly using the oven on a day like today.....male friends walk into this flat and think they're having the menopause.

no problem at all for the opposite block, solar panals absorb sunlight, they don't reflect it. They change it into electricity.

OMD I just looked up the cost!

if you mean the cost of a solar panal, you are looking in the wrong place. Try camping shops, etc. mine cost £11 and reduces the temperature of my room significantly. And I charge my phone, ipad and camera from it.

Slimthistime · 15/06/2017 10:45

thanks user
we all have this problem in this block so this is very useful to know, but with a floor to ceiling window, does it still help to have a small panel attached?

do you mean this kind of thing?

sorry for all the questions, my whole block will love you if you find a way to cool our little flats!

I wouldn't risk it... I'm still traumatised from getting food poisoning from the Linda McCartney mozzarella burgers. Worst few days of my life

Slimthistime · 15/06/2017 17:13

oh princess you poor thing
I suppose if cheese has something problematic it can't be cooked out - or can it?

I nearly chucked the slow cooker when I stopped eating meat tbh, it's only because I can do roast veggies without switching the oven on...but now I'm thinking perhaps I should get rid anyway - takes up space in a "galley" kitchen and seems much more about meat anyway.
