I had a phone call from my GP yesterday and she said my iron was too low at 25 and that the minimum should be 30.
I already take spirulina and a vitamin supplement every third day. I thought I was eating plenty of greens such as kale and spinach, and beans, nuts, so if despite all that my iron is low, what should I do.

I was a bit surprised she didn't recommend/prescribe me something, so I will hit the shops later today (am in Australia, freezing morning today) . What do you take if you take something or what do you eat. I haven't been a vegan long, so everything is pretty new to me.
Thanks

Spinach isn't good for iron. It's in there but not very bioavailable for us. Other dark green leaves like kale are good though.
I eat lots of beans and lentils. You also need to be sure you're getting enough vitamin C as well because you can't absorb iron without it. Fried apricots are a perfect combo of both so eat them. But I'd just go in with a supplement for now to get your levels back up.

I am taking the spatone sachet now and I am taking it as if it was a tequila shot, down in a go and a quarter of lemon straight after it!
It tastes like old water!

I had the most horrendous cramps yesterday so I am not sure if it is related to the supplement or to my period which are about to start.

Ferrous sulphate works fine for me and is the cheapest. I usually take mine with grapefruit juice but anything with vitamin c would do. Try not to take calcium at the same time. Tea is particularly bad for absorbing iron. Don't know about coffee because I don't like it anyway!
