Hi We went two years ago, which is fairly recent. We had a lovely room overlooking the sea. There was loads for the kids to do. Our ds aged 13 esp enjoyed himself and made lots of friends. We liked the fact that everyone had children, there was none of those 'looks' during dinner from those without children. The food for the children was ok, had better but had alot worst to! Prior to dinner there is entertainment laid on for the children and parents sit and watch. Evening meals are staggered depending on your requirements from an early tea for those with little ones to an adult only sitting for those couples that still have something to talk about during dinner (prob the what the children did that day)!! We went as a half term hol in Feb so it was reasonable. Since then we have had a new addition to our family making 4 children so peak season it would be expensive - I would guess of £3,000 for the standard of room we had last time. But it was a wonderful experience for the children and they would definatley say to your little ones get your Mum and Dad to take you!!

Sounds great. Would you say the same if the kids were 4 and 2.5?

There were children of all ages there. The Kids clubs (know not everyone agrees/is looking for these on hol) run for all ages and our younger ones loved spending time with other little ones. I am sure you have looked on the website and know there are two pools which you would prob enjoy. The pre tea entertainment would be good for your 4 year old. Also the fact you have your own space and they are close but still have their space with the inter-connecting rooms. Just one thing when we were there they did not have a lift, it was an enormous task to get all our stuff up all those stairs with the children!! When were you thinking of going?

probably late july to mid august. It is quite costly though. We don't usually go away in UK and had n't realised how expensive it can be. No doubt it would be cheaper out of peak season but then we wouldn't get away before school starts.

You can't book the kids clubs in advance and if they are full you can't use them so this is putting us off a bit.

Thanks for the tip about the lifts.

It is expensive isn't it. Having said that it was a break for me and our usual self catering! Self catering in Cornwall is expensive not to, we have stayed in St Ives and paid £2,000 for a week with food and parking ontop of that! If memory serves once you are there you can book the kids clubs for the week. A friend of mine went in Aug following our stay and did not have any probs booking her kids in when she wanted to. There are other similar hotels around. Have you looked at them?

Just a word of warning, the town itself is a bit of a magnet for post gcse drunken celebrations, I know they are meant ot be cracking down this year but if you do go you might not want to leave the resort because of it.

Quality · 28/06/2010 21:00

Newquay is fab though!

stressed2007 · 28/06/2010 21:29

What town is the magnet then Quality? Thought it was Newquay that was the bit that was n't very nice?

Slippersandpjsmum - what other hotels are you referring to? Things like Fowey Hall, Wooley Grange (sp?)?

Thinking of ones within that area. Watergate Bay hotel, (just down the road from the Sands) they have lots of extreme sports going on, may not be what you are looking for as far as the kids are concerned but they do a variety of activities. Also Bedrum Steps I think its called which is not far, they have kids club activities etc.

Quality · 29/06/2010 07:44

Yy, newquay town can get a bit full of drunk teenagers, altho, like i said, my mate says they are cracking down. Last few years beach there has been a bit dodge though.

slipperandpjsmum · 29/06/2010 08:04

Hi Quality agree with what you are saying there. Sands Resort is out of the town. Newquay can be seen in the distance. Its sort of in between Newquay and Watergate Bay. Let us know what you decide to do Stressed

Am on the case today and will see what I can get booked.

"Just a word of warning, the town itself is a bit of a magnet for post gcse drunken celebrations" what town is this?
