Am currently pre-booking our activities for Sherwood in August.

We have been 5 or 6 times, but not for a few years so obviously the DC are a little bit older (They are now 4, 6 and nearly 8, last time we went the youngest was newborn).

In terms of activities DS1 wants to do tennis, cricket and football, so have booked them. DS2 wants to do fencing and archery so have booked them too. Have booked a Ranger Ramble for the whole family.

Have also booked a table in Huck's for the first night (to avoid the queues) and am thinking about booking the Carvery in The Pancake House on the Wednesday night, although am wondering whether it will be too hot in August for a carvery?

Am finding it hard to find things for DD, who is 4. She fancied horse riding (she rides anyway) but that looks as though it is quite a way off site and we don't really want to use the car at all if possible. the one on site is only a 5 minute ride! there was also a swimming class that she was interested in, but it is unavailable.

Has anyone who has been recently with similar aged children got anything that they really enjoyed that they would recommend?

We have been to Sherwood many times, it might be a bit hot in august for a carvery, our favourite place to eat is at the Country Club, it changed its name I think its now the Village Inn. Nice food and a good play area for the kids. You can eat outside if its hot.Personally I wouldnt bother with activities for the 4 year old she will have plaenty to do with the swimming, cycling,in the play areas etc, I would save some money !

Thanks mumto2.

Have decided to book the horseriding for DD as they provide a minibus to get there so don't have to get lost drive. I felt a bit guilty booking activities for her brothers but not for her! That is the only thing she will be doing though, other than the Ranger Ramble (which she was free for anyway).

Also decided to book the carvery as DH and the boys were adamant that they wanted to have it, however hot it was. Judging by recent Augusts it will probably be pouring with rain and we will be glad of a hot meal after doing the Ranger's Ramble!

We have also booked a nearby Premier Inn for the Sunday night and the Friday night, so that we can use the facilities at CP for as long as possible.

I'm getting excited now, and there are still 3 months to wait!
