There's a lot if you drive into Bristol(about 20 mins tops) but I don't know Portishead very well.

If you go into Bristol, I can seriously recommend Plantation - a Caribbean restaurant (owned by my lovely, amazing SIL ). I'm not a veggie, but I know there's a pretty good selection of veggie dishes (and she's hosted dinners for vegan society, etc).

AuntieMaggie · 16/04/2010 19:03

ooooh Rindercella... I keep meaning to try that restaurant!

spookycharlotte121 · 16/04/2010 19:05

Oooh your sil owns it! Lucky thing.I always love st pauls carnival so that I can get my jerk chicken fix! My niece is half jamaican nd Im jealous. Their food is out of this world! unfortunatly im useless at cooking any of it.

Im hopefully going to plantation soon. cant wait!

Again I would reccomend driving into bristol as there are loads of places. What sort of food do you like?

The Royal Inn, childrens menu and great view of the ship coming in to Avonmouth or The Priory in Portbury (across M5), also has childrens menu.

orienteerer · 16/04/2010 19:12

......I meant ships.....

orienteerer · 16/04/2010 19:16

Also The Windmill, also a great view of the Seven Estuary.

Budokan is nice, in Clifton.

spookycharlotte121 · 17/04/2010 12:07

There is a wagamammas at the top of park street close to the museum.

AuntieMaggie · 17/04/2010 15:07

Ooh have been the priory loads but not the windmill or royal inn - thanks orienteerer!

Any more pub food suggestions let me know!

Rindercella · 17/04/2010 16:05

Pleased to see SIL's restaurant appears so popular!

One thing they do is a buffet, which might suit your DC gammon - they can then pick & choose what they like. DD1 loves the food there, but then her granny cooks a lot of it, so she probably would! SIL makes the place though - she is an absolute one in a million sort of person

We meet friends for brunch here lockhouse in portishead. It's right next to the portishead outdoor pools and there's fantastic views across the estuary to wales. We only had coffee and eggs bennidict but it was delicious. They also have an all day menu. They are definatly family friendly.

liz01246 · 14/05/2010 15:02

hi I would suggest the Proiry inn at portbury, nice garden good service -

belgo · 14/05/2010 15:06

I was also going to suggest the restaurant within the open air swimming pool complex, but I didn't know the name! I've only ever had drinks there but the view is beautiful and the restaurant friendly.

Definitely go there. I love that area of coast.

saggyhairyarse · 18/05/2010 21:56

Deffo the Lockhouse, if the weather is nice you can go for a swim, the kids can play in the park/walk in the woods and a good time will be had by all :-)
