Getting to Gospel Oak?

I'm travelling to London Euston next week and then on to Gospel Oak.

Can any of you wise MNers advise me what's the best way to get from Euston to Gospel Oak?

I've sussed out the tube/bus route which looks quite straight forward and should take about 1/2 hour. But I've also checked out the distance and think a taxi might be the best bet as it's only a couple of miles.

Anyone got an idea of what a taxi might cost and/or what's the best way to pay for tube/bus travel?

It'll be me and 3 DCs aged 16, 15 & 12 and we're there just for the day, but I'll be dropping of the two older DCs and going back for them later in the day so it'll be 3 trips in all.

Hope that makes sense.

I am a bit rusty as it is a while since I lived there, but you can get a bus from near Euston - the 168 - not entirely sure where the bus stop is but just outside the station I think. it is a few minutes ride.

A taxi ride would probably be 10 minutes - again not sure how much this would be, but not much.

tube isn't ideal as the nearest tube is either Belsize park/Chalk farm or Kentish Town (both on the northern line) and then a few minutes walk from there.

Children travel free on the tube now I think, but not sure what age this is up to. I don't know if they are free on the buses too. sorry I don't live in London anymore, but maybe someone else who is more familiar will be able to give you more info on this.

Thanks Pollyanna. According to the tfl site the jouney is tube to Kentish Town then bus to Gospel Oak but if there is just one bus ride that would be better.

I'd go for the bus option too. I think a taxi would cost about £8- £10 for that. Hope you enjoy your trip!

There is no direct bus from Euston to Gospel Oak; you will have to get a 168 or 253, change at Camden Town and get a 214 or C2 to Gospel Oak.

I personally would get the tube to Kentish Town and walk (only about 8 minutes) to Gospel Oak Rail Station by foot from there, or 3 stops on the bus.

Get an adult Travelcard for yourself (£5.60) and a child travelcard for each of your children (£2 each) and you can use it for both buses and tubes all day.

Taxi will be about £12 one way if there's no traffic.

That's great malovitt thanks.
