We are travelling to stay with friends in London for 3 nights. We are going to be staying in North London, a good 15 minutes walk to the tube but close to a train station. Can you give me your tried and tested brilliant things to do with a toddler in London? We are happy to be out and most of the day and will be using public transport.

Museum of Childhood www.vam.ac.uk/moc/in Bethnal Green is fab.

Toddlers love it, sand pit, dressing up, impromtu storytimes, LOADS of space. Great Benugo cafe for essential caffeine and cake (and healthy food for the kids!) stops. From here if its a nice day you could combine with Victoria Park.

Princess of Wales Memorial Playground www.royalparks.org.uk/parks/kensington_gardens/diana_playground.cfm + Science Museum www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/visitmuseum/agegroups/under_5s/galleries.aspx is a great day out.

Playground is only for kids and is free. Not just any playground though - it has water/sand/climbing etc etc.

You can walk from one to the other through the park. Just Google Map it for directions, or your friends might know. Science Museum has toddler play space with water etc in the basement, think its called 'The Garden'. The Launchpad is great as well - lots of lights and puzzles. very interactive.

Havent been yet - but Discover www.discover.org.uk/in Stratford is meant to be good fun. On Central and Jubilee lines so very easy to get to from town.

Thanks Maggie. These all sound great. I really like the idea of the POW playground. My DD would be well into that. This should keep us well busy!

Basement of the Science Museum has a great toddler area with water jets, sensory walls, giant Lego... get there early though as it gets busy.

Depending where you are in North London there is a nice little soft play centre in Alexandra Park, 'Little Dinosaurs'.

Then there's London Zoo of course!

Thanks FHTM, we are staying within 5 mins walk of Alexandra Park so will check out the soft play if the weather is a bit rubbish. Like the idea of the Science Museum, we are in Glasgow the our DD loves the Science Centre.
