Pembrokeshire coast - best town/village to stay in?

We would ideally like to be right on the coast, with a sea view close to or around a village/small town but as we don't know the area it's proving a bit tricky. Can anyone who knows the area well please offer some advice about which are nice places to stay? We would rather avoid anywhere too built up or "touristy". Thanks in advance.

Well, Tenby is the most touristy bit, i'd say. And Saundersfoot next door.

Avoid Pembroke Dock and Milford Haven like the plague. Fishguard itself is also a bit, well, not lovely.

Solva is very sweet, and around Broad haven is gorgeous.

Where you thinking of?

We've stayed in Amroth which is great.

I was going to suggest Amroth.

We used to camp in Newport - lovely beach, enough shops and a couple of nice pubs/restaurants.

St David's busier and more touristy but worth a visit.

but Tenby is still quite small

not Bournemouth-esque

Newport.

I have fantastic childhood memories of staying in Little Haven - the perfect holiday village. A little bay surrounded by cliffs, but when the tide was out we would walk to the huge bay next-door. Loads of rock pools......
Oh the memories....

Probably all changed now though. BTW it's the next village along from Broad Haven so I agree with Marymotherofcheeses

Used to stay in Nolton Haven (the next bay to the north of Broad Haven) years ago. No shops, maybe a pub but fantastic coastal walks and beach.

We did stay in Little Haven several years running. Beautiful. Briar cottage in particular had the most amazing views over St Brides Bay from the "conservatory" out the back. Spent most of the week just staring at the view.(Very basic accommodation though and upstairs bedroom totally unsuitable for small children).
Little Haven had the right mix of pub, small newsagents/grocers/ice cream parlour, art gallery and the obligatory RNLI shop. And as someone said, time it right and as the tide goes out you can walk on the beach all the way to Broad Haven, buy a paper and walk back again. The map on google shows the tide out if you want to have a look.
