Can anyone recommend any nice cottages they have stayed in in Pembrokeshire. We have 2 year old twins so second bedroom needs to fit 2 travel cots and needs a garden so they can run around.
thanks

We stayed here for a week last year and it was fab... www.scolton.com.

The pool was lovely, with the added bonus of a steam room and sauna.

Our boys loved the freedom of the grounds, and meeting new children to play with.

Its about half an hour from Tenby, and the wonderful Cardigan coast is easily accessible.

Thanks Ruthie. Funnily enough- that place is about the only place I had found so far so it is a definite possibility. We had been hoping for something a bit nearer the sea though (and can also sometimes be a bit anti social on holiday so wondered how it would feel being near so many other families). How long did it take to get to beaches from there? Also- the web-site doesn't really show the inside of the properites- are they okay? Are there any you would particularly recommend/avoid?

Hi Victoria... there are eleven properties at Scolton. I found them in www.premiercottages.co.uk, we had booked previous cottages with them and they are always of a good standard. Look at the website for more info.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom. It had an open plan living/dining/kitchen downstairs and 2 bedrooms and bathroom upstairs. It was very clean and comfortable. I think the best one to book is Coach House as it is on the end of a row of cottages and big french doors overlook the pond (completely fenced and with a small swing area next to it). The grounds are immaculate and the pool/changing rooms v clean.

I did chat to other people staying there, but you can keep to yourselves - a personal choice.

Tenby with all its beaches is about half an hour. We found a lovely beach called Poppit Sands which is in the Cardigan area, the scenery on the way there is amazing.

Also Folly Farm is a great day out, on the way to Tenby.

Weather was changeable but thats Wales for you!!

hi there, we had a week at Asheston Eco Barns last August and loved it (despite the Welsh weather!) They are newly converted, well equipped, not huge but enormous grounds. You are a mile or too of Newgale beach, fab beaches to the south and gorgeous walking all over, Solva and St Davids - cute touristy places to wonder round - to the north. We found the local food amazing - there is a company called Pembs produce direct that deliver your groceries to the cottage so local lamb ready to bbq when you arrive etc. We had 3 weeks in Wales and this far adn away best and not teh most expensive of the weeks. Good luck wherever you go Prembrokeshire is a really special place.

Just saw this and had to do a brief 'I live there' moment, we never stray far for holidays because it's such a lovely place to be. Anyway, have you looked at Croft I have to do a disclaimer as the boy in the main photo is my own as the owners are friends of mine, but it's a lovely place and they have a very good reputation. It's handy for Poppit Sands/Ceibwr and Newport beaches (lovely resaurants in Newport too.) And close to cardigan with its Tesco and small softplay for rainy days.

Have you thought about Bluestone it's like a small posh Welsh version of Centre Parc's and is handy for Tenby and Narbeth, so good for Folly Farm (great indoor play area and lovely zoo) or Manor farm which is perfect for small ones. Bluestone has lovely pool facilities and a new indoor play area, anyway come to Pembrokeshire it's lush! HTH

Thanks for your replies (sorry for the delay in replying- been away all week). Lostinwales- thanks for your posts- those places look lovely but it works out a bit more than we were hoping to pay. We love the look of the ecobarns and think we could just about afford the smaller one and it would be big enough. But I am still keen on Scolton as it would be bigger I think- and if I can't find somewhere nearer the sea, will probably go for that. Your tips are great Ruthiebabes- and yes we are not expecting great weather. We normally go to the Lakes for our holiday, so would almost be disappointed if it didn't rain most days!!
