going bankrupt???!!!

Would like to take dtb age 9 on a city break (in August) but without breaking the bank, we live near the beach so wanted something different, cannot pay more than £500 absolute max, do you think it is possible????

Open to any suggestions, have been googling but just can't see the wood for the trees... Any recommendations would be great!

TIA

There are some good rates here:

www.aspaceinthecity.co.uk/rates/

or:

www.travelodge.co.uk/search_and_book/hotel_overview.php?hotel_id=380

You could do the Dr Who exhibition and mosey around the revamped bay one morning.

There are a fair few places of interest to visit, see here:

whycardiff.com/events-in-cardiff.html

I think you would have a fab time and doable on your budget.

We stayed in dirt cheap but clean and OK accommodation at the University once. That was just in single student rooms so don't know what the apartments are like.
Try here for details.

Have emailed the Uni, it sounds like a good idea!

Travelodge will be my next thought, would love an apartment in the centre but that is way over our budget...

More ideas welcome

I can't understand those spaceinthecity rates, are they per person?

Look lovely though..

Premier Inn?

CMOTdibbler · 29/01/2010 12:54

I've stayed at Future Inn in the bay, and it was really good - cheap, and v convenient for all the things down there, but just a quick bus ride into town. V quiet compared to the city centre hotels too, and free parking

The Big Sleep is supposed to be pretty good, but I've never stayed there

SixtyFootDoll · 29/01/2010 12:56

I was going to suggest the 'Big Sleep' too.
Lots to see and do in the bay without costing £££'s.
You can walk along the barrage which is nice.
Th museum is good in the city centre.
The castle is good and the gounds are nice for a picnic.

sabinar · 29/01/2010 12:57

We've stayed at The Big Sleep - I'd describe it as well priced, well located and adequate - it does feel like a hotel built into an old office block. I've also stayed at the Future Inn, it was much nicer

mejon · 29/01/2010 22:15

The Big Sleep used to be the offices of British Gas - that's why it feels like a hotel built into an office block!

I used SACO Apartments in Cathedral Road quite a bit when I needed somewhere to put an actor on a long tv shoot a few years ago. The accommodation was good and the location is a short walk from the city centre/castle etc.
