Going to South Lakes in march. What to do?

We're going on a 4 day break at the end of march, 2 adults, 11 yr old, 10 yr old, 3 yr old.

What should we do? Not too expensive, but a few quid okay.

Thanks.

Where abouts are you staying? Lots of things outside that are free and a few things inside which are usually small and £££.

Dalton Zoo is good and the 3yo would like Duckys Park Farm at Flookbourgh. If the weather is good, Fellfoot park is nice and you can get the boat across Windermere to the Lakes Aquarium and the Haverthwaite steam train. Brockhole is a very good park too.

Hi, we're staying right by Ducky's park farm, at the haven site.

We went last year, but didn't get to ducky's, as the weather was shit rubbish!

Those are great ideas, thanks!

Not sure if it's too far from where you are but Muncaster Castle & owl sanctuary is good.

If your 3 yo likes Beatrix Potter then her old house, Hill Top, which is owned by the National Trust, is lovely (and even the older ones may enjoy it if they're that type) - if it is open that early in the year.

Brilliant enormous play area at Lake District Visitor centre, Brockholes.

Yes Muncaster is worth a trip, about an hour north ish.

Near Muncaster is Ravenglass with beach and the La'al Ratty steam train to Eskdale, too.

Another vote for at least a stop/break at the Visitor Centre at Brockholes. TBH, the best and cheapest activity is walking. If your 3 yr old is not up to it, a child backpack is essential. We spent a week based in near Ambleside with our then 5 yr old & 2 yr old and did 2 walks a day. We used the Miles without Stiles walks as a guide.
