London Dungeon?

ruebenjames · 10/01/2010 07:06

dd whose 6 and I are doing this as her christams present.
We intend to go on the London Eye, go to trafalgar square, see buckingham palace and Hamleys.
I'd also like to take her on the open top tour buses if we get time.

If you enjoy museums, the London Museum is very good, and it is free. The Imperial War Museum is good too.

For a special lunch treat, the Rainforest Cafe.

We did duck tours with ds in summer - great fun with v witty guide.
Food wise Planet Hollywood or Hard rock cafe tend to go down well. (Pricey burgers imo but if its what they want on their birthday?

You could spend about half a day in the Tower. It's very good, lots of weaponry, rooms where prisoners were kept on the crown jewels. You could then take a river boat (I think, not entirely sure if they go from Tower Bridge, but I think they might) down to Southbank, where there's tons of restaurants. There's Giraffe (very child friendly), Wagamamas, Strada, a Brazillian place, lots. Depending on the weather, it can be nice to walk along the South Bank - lots of street artists, musicians etc., and if you head west you get to the London Eye.

Tower is good, then London Eye if weather nice, and maybe Aquarium - next to the Eye and it's good fun if he likes, er, fish and things? Tower has cafe but it's not very special.

babyOcho · 13/01/2010 22:12

You could do the Tower in the morning, then get something to eat - there is a Wagamamma and Gourmet Burger Kitchen right by.

The hop on a bus (RV1) to go to your Duck Tour.

Newish planetarium in Greenwich park - est views in London, as well as a great park and just a few minutes from the maritime museum. You can get the boat down the Thames from central London and would be a great day out.

jkklpu · 13/01/2010 22:15

sorry - should read "best" views in London
planetarium
and, of course, the Observatory is right there, too
