Scottish Midges - Stirlingshire

On our way North this summer (early August) the boys want to go to Go Ape at Aberfoyle (Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, Stirlingshire). I am concerned this will be prime midge-fest season and setting.

I'm reluctant to pay £££ to book places and then find they can't do the course because of the biting blighters.

Are we likely to be eaten alive here?

I am petrified of midges as I react very badly and am in agony for weeks afterwards. But despite this we have successfully holidayed in Scotland in August many times and barely seen the buggers in Mull, Aviemore, Skye, Muck..! So is it all a myth and they don't really exist?

yes you probably will if it is damp and under trees, however I can recommend Avon Skin So Soft as a rather good midge repellent!
