Have you ever stayed in a nice Travelodge?

I want to take advantage of their £19 rooms thing with DS and DH.

I've stayed in Covent Garden and Euston, and they were ok. In that they're clean and functional.

I also stayed near Chichester and it was an absolute dump and I'd never go back.

Where have you stayed and was it ok?

There's a newish one in the centre of Leamington Spa that is nice. There isn't parking there - though there's free parking close by as long as you're looking for a spot outside of work hours and Saturday shopping.

I've just had to look up Leamington Spa

I gues you could do cotswolds from there perhaps?

Any more?

The one in Stratford upon Avon was ok. V.bare and simple but brand new and a good location.

I stayed at the Hatfield one for work. It was fine, fairly new, and had parking. Not much close by though apart from a shopping centre!

And I'll add Pembroke Dock. Clean, and not on a motorway. Very handy for places like Oakwood and Tenby. And Asda

i've never stayed in a nice travel lodge.

a bit more expensive but premier inn have £29 deals on at the moment.

we stayed in the norwich one for our honeymoon/wedding night (well swish we are) and it was lovely. and i nearly burnt the place down sending a croissant through their conveyer belt toaster and they were nice as pie about it.

the beds are far better than hotels costing ten times as much but I think that is the only highlight

New on in Chester a couple of years ago - it was yummy!

the one in Brighton is good. Best one I've stayed in. Haven't stayed in the one on the seafront but the one that's on a road that leads down into Brighton (it's a walk or a short bus ride into the centre of Brighton)

I think they are all functional. This one was also functional (I think they all look the same) but this one's rooms were bigger than the average travelodge (they look like a converted block of flats).

The others ones we've stayed in are the ones off junction 30 of the M5 (perfectly fine), Cov Gdn (some rooms nice, some rooms shit), Ringwood Hants (fine) and a few others dotted the end of the A303, all functional.

We use them to break up long journeys or to stay near family.

Never stayed in a Travelodge (don't really stay in hotels at all) but just thought I would chip in and say that Leamington Spa is a lovely place with plenty to do and is also walking distance from Warwick Castle which is great with or without kids.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 02/01/2010 19:49

PremierInn are nicer, but their website is even less helpful than the Travelodge one.

With the travelodge site, you get a map with prices on it. Not so clear on PI.

I stayed at London Farringdon one and it was nice.

Stayed at one in Birmingham and it was a dump. Think we were the only touristy type guests there. Everyone else seemed to be some sort of asylum seeker who the council were putting up on a long term basis. Which is fair enough, but because of this the staff seemed to have given up any pretence of customer service.

foxinsocks · 02/01/2010 19:58

oh and I forgot, one near Frome (also same as all the others but beautiful countryside!)

thelunar66 · 02/01/2010 20:04

The one in Hereford is nice, clean etc. Handy for Wales.

The premier lodge in Carlisle (central) is walking distance into town centre and good position for Lake District and also Hexham/Northumbria.

Durham very nice - converted railway station with Italian restaurant attached.

Glastonbury and Taunton OK-ish

Ilminster and Saltash - grim

Hulababy · 02/01/2010 21:12

Have generally found Premier Inn to be better.
