Elveden Centre Parcs - by train?

Can it be done?

DH, DD (16mo) and I have just booked for March. We live in central London and don't have a car. As we are a bit skint, I was thinking of getting the train up to Thetford and then a taxi rather than hiring a car.

Is there a supermarket we could get a cab to on the way from the station? Does anyone know roughly how much a cab from Thetford or even Ely would be?

If we can't get to a supermarket that end, what would be the best things to take with us so that don't get too ripped off in the Parc Market? I am thinking lots of wine

Thetford is only a few miles from CP so a taxi shouldn't cost much

here's a list of supermarkets in Thetford www.city-visitor.com/thetford/supermarkets.html

there is sainsburys just up the road from CP, so go there first and then onto CP.
Have fun, we just got back from there and cant wait to return

I am pretty sure that at least one of the major supermarkets (online shopping) will deliver to a holiday address....how good would that be!

We have been by train from central london a few times. We no longer have a car. In fact, we have found it easier by train than when we went by car in the days we had one. No, you are not able to get food delivered onsite - it is written into their terms and conditions. The onsite shop is fine though - if you are used to central london prices, it is no different really. It has a good range of everyting except fruit and veg (fresh) so you could always pack a bit of that. We have taken a cab from the station -I can't remember the cost, but you could certainly ask them to stop at a supermarket for you. In many ways, not driving there is easier as you don't have all the hassle of queuing for the car park and then having to queue later to get to your villa and back to the car park. The taxi bypasses the queue - drops you at the check in kiosk. We left our luggage there and they later delivered it to our villa. We made sure we had our swimming things seperate and just went swimming. On check out day, the taxi picks you up from the hotel onsite (not sure why!) which is also easy. We went straight to the shop when we arrived, did all our shopping and had them deliver it to the villa later. They can't guarrantee a delivery time though so if you need something for dinner that night, just take that bit with you. Really very easy.

Great - thank you all. I'll book the train and we'll try to get to sainsbo on the way there
