Hi we want to go to centre parcs for a weekend in January. There will be me, dh and the two dds plus a friend her dh and their 3 dcs so we need a 4bedroom place.

Longleat comes up at £549 for Jan 15th for a comfort plus and Elvedon same price for comfort.

Questions:

  • If we wait longer to book are the prices likely to go down or will we run the risk of it selling out?

-Longleat or Elvedon? The dcs will be 6, 4,2,2 and 16mo. Have only ever been to Longleat.

  • Can you pick where the accomodation is to get one near pool/sports centre bit?

-Is there much difference between comfort and comfort plus?

Thanks all.

I've only ever stayed in Comfort as am cheapskate

Have been to Longleat and Elveden. Longleat is the prettiest but v hilly and with young children I'd want to ensure I was close to the facilities - BUT the pool and the sports plaza are entirely separate so you'd be near one but not the other iykwim.

You can pay extra to specify location of your villa

Elveden is flatter, easier to get round and the amenities are all centralised, which I think is easier for littlies

The cheaper accommodation tends to go first and my instinct is that price wouldn't go down near to time (but then I've always booked in advance in school holidays which is a bit different). Usually the 'offers' and last-minute availability in school hol times are the very expensive top-of-range large villas.

  1. Prices vary constantly, so it's hard to know if they will go up or down. They may also sell out. When you are on the website, you will be able to see how many they have left.

-Longleat or Elvedon? The dcs will be 6, 4,2,2 and 16mo. Have only ever been to Longleat.

Is travel time something to consider... are both locations about the same travel time? Elvedon is more compact than Longleat, so most accommodation within 15 min walk of Plaza.

  • Can you pick where the accomodation is to get one near pool/sports centre bit?
Yes if there are villa's available. Typically charge seems to be around £35. The booking system will tell you the cost when you select the list of villas. Pine at Longleat is nearest the Plaza. Probably not worth picking at Elvedon. Download the map so you know where each villa is located and then look at the villa numbers being offered.
  • Is there much difference between comfort and comfort plus?

I think the differences are that Comfort Plus has a Dishwasher, a DVD Player and a TV in the main bedroom. Think Comfort Plus also comes with towels (for in villa use).

Thanks- I went on route planner it would take us an extra 20 mins to get to Elveden and our friends an extra hour but they don't mind.

Comfort and Comfort plus coming up same price at longleat for the weekend we want so we may as well have the plus!

Think we may just book it- we are having it as our xmas present to ourselves
