Want to go away for a few days at half-term: me, dp and dds aged 14 and 12. Am thinking maybe Harrogate or York or Durham or somewhere.

Basically a pretty town of some sort, with a railway station, where we can have a few nice wanders, maybe go to an art gallery, visit nice restaurants.

Any ideas/ hotel recs would be much appreciated. Tia.

Thanks both. Oxford Spires looks too expensive and I really don't fancy Skeggy - I want culture, innit?!

Think we'll end up having a couple of days out instead.

Its worth checking special offers out at Oxford Spires here. There's usually some good deals for last minute bookings and I don't think they make any charge for children to stay or eat

Thanks again. I have booked one in Harrogate and we will have a day in York or Leeds from there.

York or Leeds though? I say York; dp says Leeds.

And is there anywhere nice to eat in Harrogate? Or things to do?
