go during the week outside of school hols, seriously went there in Oct at weekend and was so busy only got to go on about 5 things all day, was truly awful so much so they compensated us more tickets, which will use more wisely this time.

CarGirl · 13/05/2009 21:45

Don't go in school holidays/bank holidays it is hellishly busy.

The queue for the car park builds up before opening time.

Ive been twice (live locally) not sure I can ever face it again.

Thanks Kat some great tips. I was going to do 2 nights hotel 2 day pass - B & B at the Novotel Heathrow works out at just over £200 for 3 of us, also includes Kids eat free and hotel has a pool. Thought that was a good deal. Dont have tesco vouchers as dont shop there

Go early, go mid-week. Check special offers and cheap day deals. Take a picnic!

bottletopbill · 13/05/2009 21:48

Oops sorry. I have half price vouchers I think in drawer. If you want them cat me and I will post them on if I can find them.

We went on Eater Monday and it wasn't unbearably busy. DS is just 3 so wasn't able to do a lot of the bigger rides but we still had an excellent day, the 4D cinema show is good if you want to rest your feet.

DontCallMeBaby · 13/05/2009 22:15

We paid the extra for parking near the entrance, which was well worth it as it made it easy to pop in and out for picnic etc, and made a quicker escape at the end of the day. We let DD go in the seriously wet area right at the end of the day, and just wrapped her up as best we could and took her back to the car, where we had spare clothes - it was October, so not swimsuit weather!

The tip about getting through the kiosks is a good one, just so long as your small child doesn't need the loo and is taken in a relaxed and leisurely fashion by your DP/DH two minutes before the proper gates open into the park - I was beside myself watching everyone stream past while I could only wait for them to finally emerge from the loos!

OneLieIn · 14/05/2009 10:18

I would also advise against going in the school holidays. We have annual passes and we have been at all times - with family once who paid and they did not get to go on a single big ride all day - queues of 2 hours for a 2 minute small rollercoaster are not uncommon. Queues are 1 hour plus for EVERYTHING in the summer hols.

How old are your kids? It really is for young kids only and teens will be really bored.

Go to see the show at the harbour and arrive early to bag a good seat.

If you go in the wet area, make sure you can see your kids at all times - I have seen 3 different parents losing their kids in there - it is busy.

Novotel at Heathrow is fine, nothing special, just fine. In terms of getting to Legoland, go via the M25, Old Windsor and through the park, this is MUCH quicker than sitting in traffic through Windsor -

Hope that helps??

bottletopbill · 14/05/2009 21:41

brilliant many thanks

DS is 4 years old.

Is this the hotel/Novotel looks very smart/trendy with pool and gym -www.novotel.com/gb/hotel-1551-novotel-london-heathrow-airport/restaurant.shtml

£200

tbh I would say don't do it. It is a colossal rip-off.

Kbear · 14/05/2009 21:47

I would say, don't waste your money.... two hour queues for 30 second rides - forget it.

bottletopbill · 14/05/2009 21:48

Thats for 2 days at park and 2 nights in dcent hotel with breakfast and kids eat free, I thought that was ok.

Why do you think the opposite?

OP posts:
nannynick · 15/05/2009 11:39

I think the hotel deal is fine, it gives you accomadation, breakfast and park entry.
I'm watching the puppet show yet again at Legoland, thus surfing the web!
If it is wet, there are not many places to stay dry. This year Lego Racers is open again, it is indoors so handy when wet. It is a bit hidden away, near Pit Stop cafe, so sometimes queue length is short.

bottletopbill · 21/05/2009 19:22

anymore top tips before I go ahead and book?!
