Recommendations for days out near Yeovil

We're off for a week to a place near Yeovil in July and were hoping for ideas of places to do with DC's (2 & 4). Had thought about Longleat, seaside (don't know which one),Exmoor Park, not sure what else.

Does anyone have any recommendations or ideas for us?

I'd forgotten about the fleet air arm, that's a good idea.

We all love apple pie

Dorset coast-Lyme Regis,Charmouth,Seatown,West Bay,Weymouth.

Devon-Beer is a pebbly beach but quaint.

Bridport is nice for a mooch as is Dorchester.

Haynes Motor Museum is at Sparkford (nr Yeovil)-Worth a visit if you have boys and they like things with engines! .

Cricket St Thomas park-I've not been for a very long time but it might be worth checking out.

I'd recommend this pub for lunch, lovely food (and garden for children to run about in,in nice weather). Also this one ,Fab food and stunning village.

Lots of things to do,but it depends on how far you want to travel.

We did Fleet Air Arm using tesco vouchers.

If you want to go swimming,I'd recommend the swimming pool at Crewkerne,we go and are very impressed with it.

Fleet Air Arm is good. Don't be tempted to take a pushchair in for the 2yo though - the best bits are inaccessible (or difficult at best) with one.
And take your own food and drink if you're planning to picnic there - the cafe is awful and serves the worst coffee and tea - by some distance - that I've ever had.

DWe sued to go to Charmouth beach often, and Lyme when the boys were smaller (moved away now)

Also fleet, have family links through old Curator and certainly Cricket St Thomas

If its sunny you can also run quite easily over to the Mendips, walk, take in Cheddar / Glasto (Abbey , Tor etc) and shop at Clarks Village (good in the rain as a fallback i think), Haybes Motor Museum at Sparkford.....

You can visit my MIL if you want as well she does amazing cakes but tbh- I wouldn't LOL
