Hi, We're off to Swanage this weekend and the weather forecast isn't looking great. Can anyone recommend things to do with a 4yo & 5yo? Also, any nice places to eat out? Thanks

farmer Palmers is near there and the children will love it! Along with animals there are tractor rides indoor slides and tunnels, go carts, lovely eating area, thoroughly reccomend. Oh and get the steam train from swanage to Corfe Castle, beautiful, there's a little pub opposite castle that does nice food with small beer garden at the back. There are some lovely places to eat on the sea front and the chippies are amazing. enjoy

My inlaws took dghtr to farmer palmers and loved it. Also you could take the steam train to corfe castle. if you nt members, the castles good for lookin around, and the greyhound was good food-nice beer garden at back overlooking the castle. other pubs in corfe, I'mnot sure about, and i don't know abt places to eat in swanage either-sorry.

railway details here. maybe check if there are steam trains running too, otherwise your DC may be disapppointed.

Another vote for Farmer Palmers. There's another farm as well putlake

Or just wrap up well and enjoy the beaches at Swanage and Studland. Hunt for shells at Shell Bay.

Corfe Castle.

Brownsea Island.

Are you National Trust members? It's handy for beach parking and for Brownsea and Corfe.

The best chippy is on the front - Parade Fish & Chips. If you like fish, the seafood sampler is good - tasters of all the different fish they have that day.

There's a pizza place - Old Brick Pizza Company IIRC -, which is quite ££ but proper wood-fired oven and interesting toppings.

The Bankes Arms in Studland is good too, and you can walk out to Old Harry rocks from there.

And try the Purbeck ice cream.

Am - tis my favourite place for a weekend away.

Oh these suggestions are great, thanks! We've never been before but have heard great things about it. We are all very excited, especially DS nearly 4yo who has already started packing his suitcase with favourite teddy, bucket & spade etc.
