Center Parcs - Longleat or Sherwood Forest

We have decided to book Center Parcs and are equidistant between Sherwood and Longleat. Which would you recommend for those that have been to both?

Thanks!!

Ok have only done Elveden and Longleat, which is not big help, but Longleat is very hilly, but magic show at pancake house is great fun

I've only been to Sherwood and Winfell but this year I am considering Longleat as I hear it is the best one. If we go we are looking at mid July which seems to be booking up fast. So much for the credit crunch.

tiredemma · 30/04/2009 08:59

Have been to both and prefer Sherwood.

Longleat is lovely, but is huge and very hilly- we like to go on bike rides but it was far too hilly for DS1 to be able to ride his little bike alone (without whinging)

TeriHatchetJob · 30/04/2009 09:03

Definitely Longleat!! Have been there every year for about 10 years and then went to Sherwood for a change.

Sherwood is so much smaller - not as many play areas and had to do laps of the place to make it feel like we'd done a proper bike ride, whereas in Longleat you can ride forever as its much bigger.

Thanks guys, not really conculsive!! My kids are 5 and 3, what do you think? Too hilly for them? I actually don;t like hills so maybe I should go for Sherwood!!

Just to confuse you further...

..I would vote for Longleat. We have been several times and only once to Sherwood - admittedly, we live MUCH closer to Longleat.

Longleat is hilly, but I don't notice the hills as I walk everywhere and they always seem worse if you're cycling, I think (I've never even attempted to cycle that boardwalk thing!).

Both good though, I think your DCs will love either.

Docbunches · 30/04/2009 10:23

Cycle UP the boardwalk, I should say.

KingCanuteIAm · 30/04/2009 10:25

What Tiredemma said, Longleat, with the hills you have to go up and down every time you go anywhere, would be murder with small children - especially if you have them in a carriage. I know, I did it and it nearly killed me
(They are real hills too none of this slight incline nonsense!)

Sherewood is lovely and I did not notice any difference in facilities between that and Longleat!

KingCanuteIAm · 30/04/2009 10:26

Doc, my dd slid down that boardwalk after it had rained - all the way - until she managed to steer into a tree to stop herself. That was on the first day - it did not get off to a good start

tonysoprano · 30/04/2009 10:53

Thanks so much I think I will go to Sherwood. Someone said that you feel much more on top of each other in Sherwood, would you say that was true or is there still enough space for everyone?? Oh goodness, I just can't make a bloody decision!!

There is more space in Longleat, that is true. However, we did not feel on top of each other in Sherwood IYSWIM.

As you have been to neither I doubt you would feel any different, if you had gone to Longleat first then Sherewood it may seem a bit crowded - do you SWIM? (Sorry my explaining head isn't one today!)

tonysoprano · 30/04/2009 12:18

Thanks All, I have booked Sherwood, so will report back. The Customer Service team even said thewy thought Sherwood would be more suitable. Can't wait. Already booking up all the things we can do. The Decleor Facial and Elemis massagewas first on my list!!

Hope all you have a great time! We might see you there

Docbunches · 30/04/2009 14:39

tonysoprano - glad you've made a decision, you can always try Longleat another time.

KingCanute - yikes, your poor DD! Hope she was OK. As I say, I only ever walk very tentatively up and down that thing!

KingCanuteIAm · 30/04/2009 14:42

She was fine, although she did have a couple or rather large bruises and we needed a trip to the first aid post for cool packs and plasters. Poor thing, she hadn't been riding a bike all that long and had just got nice and confident! Still, the next day she was whizzing down it again so it can't have been too bad
