Things to do in Brighton with 3 year old

We are going to Brighton for two nights over Easter. It looks like it might be raining, so I am looking for some indoor things to do that 3 year old DD might enjoy. I was looking at the Sea Life Centre but it is quite expensive.

Would the toy museum be any fun? (we love going to the toy museum in London, but it's very hands on, almost like a playground. What is this one like?)

What about the Pier? Is it covered or would we all get wet?

Any other suggestions? Many thanks in advance.

(we are going by train so no car)

There are lots of arcades inside the pier so you shouldn't get wet, although some of it is obv outside.

I really, really loved the Victorian arcades under the arches - you get old shillings and then can play on the old victorian games, he would probably like that.

There is crazy golf as well up towards the Marina.

If it's nice weather there is a nice park on the sea front (marina end) about 10 minutes walk from the pier.

If it's not wet there is a lovely park along Brighton Seafron near the West Pier.

Sea life centre is good if you can get it with a discount.

The Pier can be fun. The used to do a £5 ticket for the little rides and your child can go on as many times as they want.

The Toy Museum is quite little and not that hands on from what I recall. DS1 went there on a school trip, they did lots of activities arranged for them but TBH I think it's as much for adults. A real trip down memory lane.

The weather forecast looks ok for saturday onwards.

I've never been but The Natural History Museum in Dyke Road is meant to be very good.

It's one of those places we keep meaning to visit but never get around to it. i'm a bit along the coast from brighton but the ds' love a trip there on the train.

I used to CM in Brighton- so I am very familliar with this senario! Best advice is to take advantage of the busses- they are (usually) really reliable and frequent, and you can take the buggy on. You can get all day saver tickets, and imo Brighton is pretty good viewd from the top deck of a bus.
Indoor places do get absolutely rammed on rainy school holidays, so I've tried to think of some less well known options.

The Booth Museum on Dyke Road is great- it's a huge collection on Victorian taxidermy and different animal skeletons. You can get a bus there from the centre of town. I think it's free to get in.

Hove Museum on Church Road is lovely and also a freebie, Has a really nice section for children- stuff they can play with etc. You can get there on a number 1 or 49 bus.

It is worth sticking your head into the Library in the North Laines to see if there's anything happening. I've heard they quite often have events for children there during the school holidays, and that way if the sun does come out you're right in the middle of a really nice part of town to walk around.

If you get completely desparate, there is a soft play place on Portland Rd in Hove called Westows. It's what you'd expect (although not as bad as some) You can get there on a 49 bus.

Have a fab one

Came across this old thread in my search for the same. For anyone else who does the same, this days out website let's you search by age of child, which I found useful: www.dayoutwiththekids.co.uk/things-to-do/south-east-and-london/east-sussex/brighton/babies-and-toddlers
