What's Camp Beaumont like?

I'm looking for a day camp/holiday activity for DS for the summer. There are a couple of Camp Beaumont sites not too far from me. Are they any good? DS is an extremely active extrovert so he would like lots of group activity and not much sitting around or doing things on his own (like individual crafts).

Any other recommendations for things I can send him to in or near East London.

Watching this though just seen they don't take them in nappies I used to go to one at a sports centre (if your DS doesn't like too much crafts etc) that was mainly games etc. I loved these camps as a kid.

There's also a day camp with lots of London sites called Barracudas. Has anyone used them? One of their sites is really quite close to me, but I'd rather chose by which is most fun than by location.

I have heard they're good, from someone who went as a child..! Hope they're still ok now cos have booked DD1 into one for a week in the Summer at a location near grandparents. Have added on swimming lessons for the week also.

We used a Fit for Sport summer camp last summer which were v. good, you might want to see if they have any locations near you.

bran my dd went to barracudas last year (woodford) and loved it. She was meant to go to Camp Beaumont ( a mum at school organised a group to go at the same time) but the local one to us got cancelled, so we transferred to barracudas snd she adored it. Was cheaper too.

I'm a SAHM so it is technically unnecessary but we had a new ds (he was 2 weeks when she went i think)so we thought it was a nice idea for her to be able to get out and do something fun, with friends, that was structured. It was absolutely brillaint - so many different activities each day, and from what I've heard, I prefer it to the sound of Camp Beaumont so it worked out well that CB was cancelled.

That's good to hear ALBS. I might book him into Barracudas. I think Woodford is probably the nearest to us (docklands), it'll save me having to go through the Blackwall Tunnel to the next nearest.

I have a new DD and I'm finding these holidays a bit of a strain as sibling rivalry has kicked in quite a bit. DS isn't great in the holidays anyway as he gets bored so a combination of a new DD, DH going back to work after paternity leave and a 3-week Easter holiday is pretty tough for him to deal with.

dd really loved it - i know a few boys from her class are going this easter as well, so if the mums use it for multiple holidays i reckon it must be just as good for the boys as the girls.

I wonder if they have places for the week after Easter still. Next week isn't too bad for amusing DS, I only really have Tuesday still to be filled with an activity, but the week after is worryingly empty.

Two of my charges did a week this Easter at one of the camps. They enjoyed it. Played with other kids, tried new sports etc.. They came home nicely exhausted every day. Would definately send them again.

I am extremely disappointed in Camp Beaumont, it is my first experience with them and they gave away my son's place at camp without telling me. We booked a place and paid with childcare vouchers. The next day they gave his place away forcing us to book in a camp over 100 miles away. We only discovered it had happened when we tried to bring them more business by adding his friend to the booking.

As this is his first trip we really wanted him to be close to home. Apparently, despite receiving independent confirmation from the voucher company that the payment had been sent to them, they had not confirmed the booking. They gave an alternative of paying by card and then crediting us back 2 days later once the voucher payment reached their account.

If I had not already told him he was going and added his friend to the booking I would definitely cancel and switch to one of our usual providers, Xuk, PGL etc.

What exceptionally poor and bureaucratic customer service. When I voiced my frustration I was fobbed off with the usual excuse that the manager was unavailable but would call me back. They are clearly the Ryanair of Summer camp providers. They even tried to say that the other camp was better because there are fewer children I.e. it's in the middle of nowhere and they have not been able to fill the spaces.
