Cheap haven holiday breaks- grim or OK?

Posted this on General advice too but...

We have been given some newspaper offer vouchers from grandparents for cheap breaks to Haven holiday parks, caravan or chalet stays. I am wondering if they are a bit grim or good value for money. We are having major house renovations this year and won't be getting abroad so was thinking of it as a break from 'the building site' and a bit of quality time. Ds will be 18 months by the time we go.
I presume it might make a difference which park/area you choose so any recommendations gratefully recieved.
Cheers in advance x

were going to haven via some vouchers out of a newspaper, it ended up costing 80quid alltogether. We have picked a site on the east coast incase the site enetertainment isnt up to much. I've heard alot of good reviews and i'm really looking forward to it. You can also upgrade ur accomadation so u get a better caravan to stop in. My ds will be 20months when we go

We had a free weekend last September, all I will say is if it is at the Haven site at Filey then be afraid....be very afraid.

Primrose Valley in Filey Yorks is ok. We went last year but make sure you ask to be put on a quiet part of the park. We wrongly assumed being in a superior plus caravan would be enough to guarantee that and we ended up in "Caravan City" (Oak Ridge) where the caravans were too close together and where we had noisy nightmare people next to us. There are some parts of the park where the vans are spread out more so if you go there be aware of this. The caravan was clean and the area was lovely so we had no complaints really aside from location. However Reighton Sands and Blue Dolphin nearby are supposed to be grim so avoid at all costs!

that is location of the caravan and not the area btw!

We did Haven through our tesco clubcard deals (Wild Duck Norfok) and it was fine. My only real complaint was that it was fecking freezing in the caravan, even with the heat on (and living room heater not at all child friendly) (I think we went last March) This was in the Prestige caravan (best you can get, doncha know!), which was very nice as caravans go, but still cramped in the bedroom/bathroom area, but then I expected that.Still, everything was clean and there was plenty of space in the living area. (However rental highchair was not at all clean- I'd hesitate to rent a travel cot from them)
The site facilities were fine - we went off-peak so pretty empty. There were parks to DS to play in, the pool was very nice and warm, the kids entertainment was a bit lacking but then there were hardly any kids to entertain. I might go back, off peak again, possibly. But then remembering how cold I was at night, maybe not...(we're off to centreparcs next week - pity you can't do that with tesco deals)

Haven Hafan Y Mor near Pwllhelli, North Wales - stayed there last June, it was fine, v. nice pool and own muddy beach!

Haven Haggerston Castle near Berwick, stayed there end October, I was not very keen - caravan was freezing, main food/entertainment area was grim and noisy, pool was small and had quite strange time limits for sessions.

if you think travelodges are OK, then Haven is IMO slightly grottier but with fridge/cooker. if you think travelodges are hell on earth, then Haven will not be for you....

The one we stayed at was Blue Dolphin and boy was it grim, needless to sat we won't be going back this year!
