Babington house

Has anyone been to Babington House? We've tried for reservations several times and finally been successful for Easter hols, but haven't confirmed booking yet. Kids age 2, 4, 6. Done Most in Luxury Family Hotel group, and Calcot Manor. Find LFH fantastic for kids but mediocre for adults. Calcot probably other way round - restrictions on kids swimming times were very irritating.
Is babington mrore a stay-in-the-grounds place, or a get-bored-quickly-so use -as-base-to-explore-area place? (Former more what we're looking for this trip, with me pg.) Are the staff still very snobby? (I looked round there for potentially using for our wedding, 7 years ago now, and it annoyed me that they kept telling me the way they did things for wedding, rather than me being able to specify the things I would want, so decided against it. Also, do the non-parents get annoyed with the families, so you feel you have to shush your kids all the time?

hedgiemum, we too have done LFH and Calcot. (and Babington without kids for my 30th)

We went to The Rosevine at half term, in Cornwall, it was fantastic. It opened last year, run by ex-Fowey couple. It has an indoor pool, but no creche/childcare. It does have a great playroom though, near to the dining room and sitting room.

Big garden, with trampoline etc, and best of all a beach 1 minute walk down the lane!

The rooms are great as they have a microwave/kettle/fridge etc, which is really useful.

Thanks for recommendation bluesky. No creche/childcare means its pretty much out for us at the moment (as DH has to have 1-2 hours a day blackberry time on hol as v demanding job) and it doesn't feel much of a holiday unless they are looked after and I get a nap during this time!

But will file away for future reference...

We stayed at Babington recently and loved it. Didn't find the staff snobby at all. Would love to go back and will take ds with us next time. At breakfast there were some little ones with their parents and dh and I then felt guilty for leaving ds at home with his grandparents.

If non-parents get annoyed then they should go to hotels that don't allow children.

Have a lovely time, am very

Always wanted to go there, but always think of it too late for special occasions and can't get reservations.

Well MrsMattie, in the morning I'm emailing them to say no to the coachhouse for the w/e of the 17th/18th April, as we really want 3-4 nights away, so if you try tomorrow they'll have a reservation available!
