Hi all,

I have a 4 month old baby and looking for a hotel in the Lakes for Easter.

I want somewhere with a warm swimming pool so I can take her swimming, nice food so I don't need to take her out for meals and good walks (on buggy-friendly paths!) nearby.

Has anyone got any ideas on a good location/ hotel in the Lakes please? Preferably not too far North.

I've just thought - I need a microwave & sink in the room so I can sterilise things!!

Hi honeymoonmummy
we stayed at Burnside Hotel in Bowness on Windermere when DS was 8 months old. We stayed in a 1 bed self-cat apartment that they have, with m/wave in the kitchen. SC was very easy with all of the food prep that we had to do for DS. We did eat out most of the time in the town. They did have a pool, although we didn't use it. Nice place to stay, 5 mins walk to the town and the lake. burnsidehotel.com
hope this helps

Thanks Emandlucas - anyone else??

what aboutg center parcs

Honeymoonmummy · 13/03/2009 17:03

Yeah we were thinking about that but I'm still a bit achey after the birth and it involves a lot of walking, we couldn't bike because of DD's age. Plus it's really expensive given that DD won't appreciate anything yet.

beech house hotel, near windermere. we stayed there with our dd when she was 8mths, (long time ago now so it might have changed!)it was lovely. we had a ground floor room with a terrace outside french doors, and swing seat outside our room (just paid for a standard room and werent expecting that). the staff were brilliant, brought baby's warmed bottles down to us on request (we made up bottles and they put them in hotel kitchen for us). we had room service dinner (3 nights), ate in bed while baby asleep . They had a nice pool, that was actually being done up at the time so it must be even nicer now.The weekend stands out as a brilliant holiday and just what we needed at the time.

Lodore Falls on Derwentwater?

Honeymoonmummy · 28/03/2009 15:21

Both very nice but too expensive for what we were considering

I can tell you where not to stay - here

We stayed there last April and it was really not very nice - great location but a very grotty hotel (even though the picture looks nice).

Sorry I can't be of any help as to where to stay.

pointydog · 29/03/2009 17:23

just looked at lodore falls. I'm tempted. Was it good quality, kathy?

can also say the burnside was good and we all enjoyed a dip in the pool too....not too far to walk into the town centre with littlies in tow either

just been to derwentwater twas sunny but the wind chill factor was pretty cool
never mind the children have a healthy rosy glow to their cheeks

enjoy your break where ever you choose!

pointydog · 29/03/2009 19:34

burnside does look nice - bit too pricey for me

Langdale Hotel and Country Club in Elterwater, near Ambleside. Does some good last minute deals.

It has a nice pool, a couple of decent restaurants (though not cheap) and in nice countryside, with walks all around.

Lodore Falls is lovely, re-furbed a few yrs ago. Very picturesque setting if a bit cold and damp at this time of year.

Not a great place though for buggy-pushing as it is out on its own on a main road with nowhere near enough to walk to really.

However, the little boat stops at the jetty outside the hotel and you can get all round the lake, including Keswick (during the day only).

The hotel restaurant is fine and there is a leisure centre, including a pool.
