We are planning a trip to London next month. We are taking our 3 girls who would like to visit the museums.

We plan to stay 3 nights but dont really know London well enough, so thought someone might be able to help us out a bit. Below is a list of our requirements.

  1. Parking - dh is going to drive up to London

  2. Close to the underground - dh does not actually want to drive around London.

  3. A nice-ish area (dont want to feel intimidated or scared stepping out the door)

  4. we could like to avoid paying the congestion charge so not right inside London.

  5. Not too expensive.

Ok I think thats about it. Thanx for all your help

Hello pinkdolly, that sounds like a fun outing.

This premier inn is in Hampstead but close to the Northern Line, and it has parking for £12 a day.

My wedding guests stayed there when I got married. It was fine- not particularly gorgeous and above a petrol station (!) but I think it meets your requirements OK.

Parking is the killer I think. Otherwise if it were me I would be tempted to stay in the Premier Inn County Hall, as the location is fantastic. Right on the Thames and in the middle of things, your girls would love it. I haven't stayed there myself though so do have a check of the old tripadvisor.com

hi i just saw this by coincidence i'm booking a couple of nights at county hall right now! we've stayed there before and it's great with kids and the location is more than you can ask for, directly on the thames, above the aquarium, close to big ben etc, sorry i don't know a lot about parking but it's also close to waterloo so should be good parking there

County Hall is inside the CC zone so you would have to pay if you drove in or out on a weekday

I don't think there'd be much parking at Waterloo, well unless you're prepared to pay through the nose

There is a holiday inn (I think!) in Rotherhithe which has plenty of parking....

Or you could find somewhere to park outside the congestion zone and get a bus/tube in?
