We are going to ireland in a few weeks and want to stay somewhere nice about an hour or so from Holyhead. We are coming from the north west of england. I don't need specific hotels or b and b's (unless you want to) just a town or area.
TIA

Trearddur Bay is lovely (and the pub/hotel there - funnily enough, called the Trearddur Bay Hotel is nice enough).

You can paddle and look at boats and have icecream before you get your ferry

Thanks for recommendations. Have had a look at trearddur bay and looks fab but way too expensive. Does anyone know anywhere to stay in the area which is a bit more cheap reasonable?

There is a Travelodge place just before yuo go over the bridge. You are 30 mins. away then max.

If you want character, try Conwy. Castle, town walss, fishing, little shops, Britain's smallest house. Lovely.

Thinking of booking the trearddur bay hotel it is expensive but they will let our dog stay. Has anyone stayed there or know it or anywhere else suitable. Travelodge full.

The food is good here but it may not be child friendly enough for you if your children are quite young. It will be a lot less than an hour from Holyhead so it may be too far for you to drive in one day from your home, I guess.

Tried that it is full. I jumped on this thred from the search page. We would rather stay on anglesey. the other hotel available is Cymyran hotel but the dog would have to be in the stable. She might bark and drive everyone mad
