ScoobyDoo · 05/07/2008 18:54

We really want to get away as a much needed break is needed for us all.

Ds is nearly 6 & dd is 2.6.

We really want somewhere which is a quiet place to stay as long as it has open space a park & is right next to a gorgeous beach we will be more than happy, don't want any of this built up parks!

Links/suggestions would be great, don't want anything to over priced either as on a budget.

Thanks

We always go to Lydstep beach near Tenby. It is a big site but is landscaped beautifully so it does not feel like that. It has its own private beach and a great playpark for kids. All the caravans have balconies and most have sea views. We are going in a few weeks and I am really looking forward to it. The views from the caravans are spectacular as they are all tiered so some are higher than others and there are some fab cliff top walks ajacent to the park too.

I don't think you would be disappointed at all

ScoobyDoo · 05/07/2008 19:04

Thanks notalone will have a look at the website, will just want a really relaxed holiday, well as relaxing as it gets with 2 little ones

If you want to ask anything Scooby then feel free. We have been a few times and know the area quite well so will do my best to help ya.

PS - if you want to go book one of the private caravans as you will be a much better deal, and don't be put off by the fact it is a Haven site. It is so nice they don't even put it in the brochure anymore as they get most bookings from return customers and because lots of the caravans are privately owned

ScoobyDoo · 05/07/2008 19:13

Looks fab, have found a site that advertises all private owned caravans, my only niggle is the size of the site as we are probably going to be paying more for facilities we really don't want to use, am still thinking about it though, i suppose it depends on the prices as we are looking at the 1st week in august..

the visitwales website has a whole section on camping - here: www.visitwales.co.uk and then you can search Swansea Bay camping, it will bring up Gower sites. Friends of mine go regularly to Nicholaston and say it's amazing, near gorgeous beaches, clean site, play area etc. Most of the Gower beaches are lovely, especially 3 cliffs near Pennard. Hope you find somewhere.

Notalone · 05/07/2008 19:29

If you book privately you won't have to pay for any of the facilities as that all comes separate. We haven't paid for the clubhouse or the pool this year. The caravan we are booking is £600 for a week and we leave on 2nd August. I think the lady who owns it may have a vacancy the following week so if you want I could give you the caravan details so you can find it on the site and call her. Or if you would prefer a 3 bedroom one there are loads advertised too. That would be weird if you stayed in the same one a week after me lol

ScoobyDoo · 05/07/2008 19:29

Thanks off to check out that site now, have emailed a couple of people from the privatly owned caravans from notalone suggestions to get an idea on prices.

I think there is a site near Port Eynon on Gower that would suit you. It is difficult to spend money on the Gower because there is hardly anything there....perfect!

ScoobyDoo · 05/07/2008 19:35

Notalone thats the week we want to go the 2nd, it's the only week we can do as dd is off nursery, i am off work & so is dp & obviously ds is on school holidays.

We only want 2 bedroom as dd normally gets up & comes in with us anyone.

Do you have sea views? i did not know you could not have the whole package that sounds better.

llareggub - Do you know the name of the site?

OP posts:
Notalone · 05/07/2008 19:41

Well we haven't been to this particular caravan before but yes it does have sea views. It is Bay View - no 310 - on the website. Have a look and let me know what you think. The lady who owns it is lovely too judging by the conversation we have had so far. I think it would suit you really well.

Notalone · 05/07/2008 19:46

PS - just re read this thread and I promise I don't work for the site or own the caravan lol. I sound like a walking advertisement. They should pay me for this

ScoobyDoo · 05/07/2008 19:48

Notalone i can't find it? i am looking on the kilnpark site am i in the right place?

llareggub · 05/07/2008 19:53

Port Eynon itself is a lovely village

ScoobyDoo · 05/07/2008 19:54

We stayed at Well Park in Tenby. It is fairly near the road to turn off to Saudersfoot on the road into Tenbyso not right on a beach but very acessable to 2 lovely beaches.

It was a quiet site, it did have a play park. It also had a great farm shop next door.

Notalone · 05/07/2008 19:59

We have one DS who is 6. To be honest even if you don't go for that caravan / that site, you will be fine anywhere in the Tenby area. It is such a lovely spot and it has umpteen fab beaches nearby as well as Folly Farm, Oakwood Theme Park and a dinosaur park too. Are you thinking more of Tenby or Gower? (Gower is beautiful too btw but more isolated so if it rains there isn't much to do)

Notalone · 05/07/2008 20:04

Just had a look at Llareggubs link and am at the prices for mid summer. Talk about NOT being a rip off in the school holidays. Amazing! It looks nice too . Decisions Decisions hey?!

ScoobyDoo · 05/07/2008 20:13

Sounds great, i know the prices are fab on that link & it looks nice too, not very good at decisions either

Not sure where to go, we just need a break from home life/work etc so really want to relax the kids are happy as long as they have a beach & somewhere to run wild including a park!

Have emailed a few people of that private site you said about Notalone so will see what prices come back & go from there i think.

Notalone · 05/07/2008 20:20

I am the most indecisive person going so you have my sympathy!

Good luck - let me know what you decide and I am more than happy to help if you need any further advice or info. FYI I went to Gower when I was a kid and have very fond memories of 3 Cliffs Bay so if you do decide on the Gower you will have to pay it a visit - it is truly beautiful.

Keep me updated ok!

llareggub · 05/07/2008 23:13

Three Cliffs is my favourite beach of all, ever. Although Port Eynon is also very lovely. Personally I find it hard to beat the Gower for wonderful beaches, although Pembrokeshire is also very nice.

cerys · 05/07/2008 23:28

ScoobyDoo, Bank Farm is a very popular site and I have heard it gets pretty lively/rowdy at busy times. It is lovely down there, though - just not sure it fits the quiet place to stay you mention in your OP!

HTH

Notalone · 06/07/2008 12:23

BTW - Scooby - when I say we leave on the 2nd August I mean that is the day we go home, so the week you want is the week that may be free. I wasn't very clear earlier. Sorry!
