Any suggestions for days out while we are on holiday? Two DCs 5 and 2.
Thanks.

Yes. Lots! I live about 20 mins away.

In Berwick, if it's raining, there's soft play at the Swan Leisure Centre. It's pretty big and with lots of sit-ons and toys too as well as the usual ball pen/slide etc. There's also a swimming pool there.
Just outside Berwick on the A1 north there's Conundrum - it's a farm trail. You wander around and feed the animals - usual farm animals plus Llamas, and you even get to feed the trout! They serve lovely food there too, though it can be a little pricey.
Further north on the A1 near Dunbar there's East Links, another farm. Much bigger than Conundrum with more to do, including a steam train, trampolines, hay barn; but it does get busier in school holidays than Conundrum.
There are loads of good beaches. Cocklawburn and Scremerston and Spittal are all very enar to berwick. Spittal has a good playpark beside it. Further South Cheswick beach is superb, enormous dunes, our favourite beach. A bit further south again is Bamburgh beach, another lovely beach but slightly busier as there is also the draw of Bamburgh castle.
There's Holy Island (Lindisfarne) but you'll need to be careful of crossing times for crossing the causeway.
There are shed loads of castles around, if your kids like that (probably a bit young). And Abbeys.
Anything in particular they're interested in?

it's lovely and you can have tea and cake aboard an old bus. it's terrific.

Lindisfarne!

Warkworth Castle - brilliant. DS (then 4) loved running around it.
If you like walking then my favourite walk in the whole world is Steel Rigg to Housesteads along Hadrian's Wall. Probably not ideal for teh 2 year old 'though.
DS also loved walking around the walls of Berwick and pretending to fire the cannons (helped by three uncles and DH who acted as gun crew!)

PMSL, didn't think of the honey farm. I went to school with the son of the owner...he had a remarkably odd theory on male masturbation....

Damn, yes, the Cheviots. Marvellous, though a lot for a 2 year old. But you could easily go to Langleeford or Ingram and stop by the stream and build dams/play pohh sticks etc. Yeavering Bell has the remains of an emormous hill fort on top. And if you've lots of spare cash you can go gliding from Milfield over the hills.
In the Lammermuirs (to the North) you could go to Eden's Hall Broch.
Or the Eildon's, easily accessible from Melrose (which also has a nice Abbey, though IIRC it's blooming expensive to get in).

Thanks everyone, I will print this out and take it with us or do more net research if I manage that.
Can I ask about the theory or should that be on another thread ?

Chillingham Castle, Ford and Heatherslaw railway, Wooler, Holy Island, Alnwick Gardens (little way away though)
