Unique UK luxury hotel

I’m looking for an interesting hotel, a bit luxurious. The only place we have been like this so far was the Midland Hotel In Morecambe. DH loves 20th century architecture so somewhere similar would be great. Or any interesting, historic building. I’d like a pool and sauna.

Another vote for Swinton. Lovely building and staff, spa very good.

I've heard very good things but it's definitely not historic or 20th century 🙂

Cliveden?

Have you stayed there @Bitzee?
If so, what’s it like ?

Yes a few times. V historic. Great walks in the national trust grounds and along the river. Hotel and spa have always felt relatively quiet as there are relatively few rooms for the enormous size of it. Working fireplaces in the rooms. Obviously it’s much older than 20th century but for modern history buffs you have the profumo affair stuff and can swim in the famous outdoor pool which is still there, and heated so it’s lovely to swim in.

I have a big birthday coming up so might take a trip.

We went as a group for a family members milestone birthday and they couldn’t do enough! We’d booked standard rooms but they upgraded every single one. Most of us got huge suites and the ‘worst’ room our group was given was one of the hot tub ones. Would definitely recommend.

True but it is unique ecologically 😄

Strict dress code at Burgh Island is only in the ballroom (black tie). You can opt to eat in the Nettlefold restaurant instead or eat at the Pilchard Inn next door.

I might have to rethink Burgh Island. When I looked on the website previously there didn’t appear to be another more casual option but it was ages ago.

Bodmin Jail?! The restaurant is fabulous and obviously very old but no pool. Quirky though.

Ive never been, but Burgh Island is on my wish list. I think it ticks all your boxes OP
