Hello wise mumsnetters.
has anyone been to both of these and advise which is better?
we are staying equidistant from both and I can’t decide and won’t have time to visit both.
I love a garden, wisley is one of my favourites but also interested in environment.
can anyone help thanks

Haligen definitely

We did both last July, whilst I really liked Eden Project, it's expensive and a little underwhelming for the cost.
I loved Heligan, it was so nice to get lost walking round, they have a few animals, lovely outdoor areas for food and a nice gift shop.

I haven’t been for years but out of the two Heligan (I also adore Wisley and Wakehurst )

Heligan

Even as a teen I preferred Heligan to Eden when visiting with my parents shortly after it opened.

CointreauVersial · 16/06/2026 13:08

We had to make that decision a few years back, without the benefit of a MN thread to advise us, and we went with Heligan. Sounds like I made the right choice!

It was absolutely magical - even the DCs loved it, and I thought they'd be bored stiff.

Oh definitely Heligan. I went 7 years ago and then to Eden on the way home and it was totally underwhelming. If I had made the trip just for Eden I would have been gutted.

Heligan. A magical experience.

Eden. Scruffy, expensive and smells of chips. We couldn't wait to leave.

LetMeGoogleThat · 16/06/2026 13:30

Heligan, I found the Eden project so packed and shuffling through the different biodomes was a bit grim.

ThisMeansNothingToMe · 16/06/2026 19:16

Eden Project felt like a bunch of overpriced grubby cafés with a scruffy greenhouse attached. Was expecting to be awed but felt underwhelmed and exploited.

SoScarletItWas · 16/06/2026 19:21

Heligan!

Went to Eden not long after it opened and it felt special. Returned last year and thought where has its soul gone? Where is its sense of purpose and eco-passion? PP was right - shuffling through the biomes felt so miserable.

Heligan is alive; varied; natural and soothes the soul. It’s a lot of walking and can be steep bits to see it all. But we go there every year whereas I don’t think I’ll ever bother with Eden again.

I never expected this many responses. Thank you all so much. We are definitely going to Heligan!! Can’t wait

I loved both, but I want to live in Heligan.
