Ideas for teen-friendly things to do in London overnight

Going to London from South west on Thursday morning for one overnight with DH and two teens, DS14 DD16. We go fairly often and DH and I know it well, which means we have fallen in a rut and need to level up to teen interest activities iykwim
Well arrive at 11am, park car near hotel (staying in Vauxhall.
Heading to Battersea to do power station food hall, lift, shops. Booked lift. To hotel to freshen up and dinner booked at Hai di lo (sp?) for hotpot at 7.
We plan to get breakfast at Cellarium and visit Westminster Abbey as none of us have before.
Beyond that were out of ideas. Well be leaving at around 4pm to drive home.
So, limited time, what fun thing (s) can we do?
We all like interesting/delicious food. We've done Tower Bridge/Eye/Buses etc, the hidden London tours aren't available.
DD would shop forever but she's low in funds and none of us want to spend hours doing that anyway.
DS is just getting in to photography and has fancy lenses.
At the risk of being sick in my mouth, anything instagrammable/really fun to do?

2 stops further south on the tube to Brixton? Explore Brixton Market (Brixton Village) spot the electric Avenue sign, murals, David Bowie mural , Iconic Ritzy Cinema, Windrush Sq, lunch in the Market (the chef / owner of Wings and Tings has been on Masterchef - excellent roti etc) -a London neighbourhood and v Insta-worthy!

Google tours of Brixton for ideas

Weather permitting I’d ditch the Abbey and do this.

Mine enjoy a walk up either Primrose Hill or Hampstead Heath, with stops in nice cafes at either.

Camden is always a good wander too. We’ve often stayed near King’s Cross and walked through Coal Drops Yard and down the canal to Camden then on to Primrose Hill from there.

My dd always enjoys looking round Camden Lock, loads to see there.

I took dd to the Banksy exhibition last time we were in London and we both enjoyed that.

We have done Coal Drops Yard, especially great at night.
Where we live it's all walks up hills with cafés 😂 they've specified not that. Which is fair.

Banksy is a good shout

I don't mean this rudely but as they're 14 and 16 can't they do some research and suggest activities? You're not total newbies to London so can gauge distances etc. Just need to ask ChatGPT or equivalent...

Leake Street graffiti tunnel?

MissAmbrosia · 04/04/2026 11:48

Mine really liked the Ghost Bus Tour

1AnotherOne · 04/04/2026 11:50

Shoreditch graffiti tour (can probably find online free routes) and sushi samba in city for the view. Can go up there for just drinks.

The graffiti tour is good, if it is the one I have done it stops at Box Park too? so there could be a bit of shopping thrown in

Have you climbed the O2? This’d is really fun and my teed DS loved it. Might take too long for the time you have. Agree get your teens to look themselves though. I presume they have TikTok which will have loads of recommendations tailored to their likes.

Done that. Yes, it was great! Also did a ghost walk, actually even better.

We haven't, this is an option for DH and Ds, DD and I would hate it, she's already complaining about the lift at Battersea😁

But perhaps we split up for a few hours

No, I get that, fair point. We have tried, but they're arseholes to each other and will grumpy. We could suggest some and they'll tolerate it, if the other suggested it they'd moan endlessly.
When we go on longer holidays we absolutely take this approach and tech then how to compromise, but it's less than two days.

Junkyard golf and Spitalfields market

The paradox museum was really cool - all 3 teens 13/15/16 loved that. And it’s opposite Harrods - grab lunch in their foodhall. Wander round the shop and see what’s the most expensive item you can find 😊

Cheesenotcheesecake · 10/04/2026 20:44

Well, we just got back and had a FAB time.
Battersea power station is fantastic and we really enjoyed the lift.
The food at The Arcade food market was outstanding.
Hot pot at Haidilao was high octane and then an after dark stroll for pud in China town
They LOVED Westminster Abbey, we all did, so that was interesting.
To all those who recommended the Leake Street Tunnels, thank you, that was great and then a wander round the market at the other end. We are at the polish place and it was fantastic.
All interspersed with general.wamdering and photography.
We're shattered but very content
