Windsor parking

I'm travelling to Windsor with my disabled friend who can't walk far.

She doesn't have a blue badge.

We're going to the castle.

Where do you recommend I park? Is it best I drop her off then go park?

There is no parking in close proximity to the Castle for someone who can't walk far - even if you did have a blue badge. I think the closest car park is the Waitrose multi-storey car park in King Edward Court. The NCP Windsor car park off Alma Road is reasonably close too and if you access it via the overpass that goes by the Windsor & Eton Central railway station you can get to the castle fairly easily. Victoria Street car park is another option, but I'd say that is probably the furthest away. You have to walk all the way up Peascod Street to get to the castle.

Get your wallet primed though. Parking in Windsor is absurdly expensive!!!!

Have you arranged for assistance once inside? It is a fair schlep from the entrance into the castle itself for those with mobility issues.

The closest is the River Street car park but it's not very big. There's also one about the same distance away behind the theatre. Some parking along the road beyond there as well.
It depends how disabled your friend is but you'd probably need to drop her.
I haven't been for a while, others may know if better places.

The Castle itself has a super page about access. And hiring wheelchairs/using scooters.

Thank you so much. One of my worries was how far she'd be able to walk inside there.

I'm so glad they offer visitors free wheelchair use, or state where to hire a motorised one for the day (which gives free parking all day!). It gives us options.

The station car park (Windsor & Elton Riverside) is about as close as you can get (although still a steep walk to castle entrance) and very reasonable at weekends

I would suggest that she gets herself a manual wheelchair for days out and then you or someone else can push her.

But the castle is uphill wherever you park.

I would suggest you drop her off and she waits for you while you park.
