Probably daft question but what are the beaches like in Norfolk? Is the sea exciting enough for using those boards that aren't surfboards?

Thinking about going there for holiday this summer. Never been but know it's sold as being safe for families. Does this mean sea is very placid and calm?

um placid & calm

Not round here

KatyMac · 15/06/2008 21:32

It's not as good as mid wales (borth) & it's very cold

Mercy · 15/06/2008 21:37

Wells next the Sea and Holkham Bay have fantastic beaches.

Have no idea re the swimming aspect though - too cold I think - but hte beaches are great

Tinker · 15/06/2008 21:38

Not as good as mid-Wales? Oh no. We were there last year, loved it but thought we should try somewhere else...

It's not be who'll be doing it btw.

The beaches are better

The waves are less

Tinker · 15/06/2008 21:47

Hmm. May need to re-think. Thanks.

Umm lots of sailing, jet skis and stuff

At Sea Palling

How old are the children (assuming DH isn't the bellyboarder)

Tinker · 15/06/2008 22:02

She's 11 Katy. And I think she's quite looking forward to that bit since I now realise she's need a cheap wetsuit thing. Will see what's available.

Do you want to borrow DD's for a week?

Where are you coming to?

Shall we take you sailing?

Tinker · 15/06/2008 22:31

You can borrow mine if you prefer

Beautiful beaches. Very cold water.

KatyMac · 15/06/2008 22:34

I meant the wetsuit - but I'll have your dd for £3.50 an hour

Tinker · 15/06/2008 22:36

Damn. £3.50 you say, [rubs chin]

I don't think she'll mind cold water.

East Runton is the place where most surfing seems to go on. The sea can be very rough at times. And too cold for swimming? You must be wimps!! Have lived in Norfolk all my life and have always swum in the sea. The beaches are long and sandy and you can always find a quiet spot somewhere. If you wanted to go to East Runton you can always stay in Cromer, which is a small seaside town but has a bit more going on, as East Runton is a village. Not to be confused with West Runton, which is a separate village. Happy to oblige if you want any more detailed info, like where to stay etc.

Oh excellent, thank you. Should get my skates on a book somehwere really.
