Hiya,
We’re planning a 6-day honeymoon in Cornwall in May and want somewhere great for us and our dog. We’re after area suggestions that:
• are dog-friendly (good walks & beaches)
• are lovely for a honeymoon (pretty, relaxed, nice food)
We’d prefer somewhere that has good pubs and walks nearby.
Any recommended areas AND any specific places to stay (amazing views would be fab!) much appreciated 🐾❤️

Talland Bay near Polperro is dog friendly.

seasonal dog bans on most beaches come into effect in mid May - usually around 14th/15th - so if your trip is before that you’ll have a lot more choice and freedom.

Do you know where you'll be based in Cornwall, or is that not set in stone yet?
Personally I think the best part is the south-west corner, where I grew up.

Boscastle is very pretty and quiet at night when the daytrippers have left.
Nice walk up to the lookout, pubs. Farm shop and restaurant a short drive away with a cliff walk.
St Nectans Glen is a lovely walk.
Big dog friendly beach at Widemouth.

I love Porthleven - great walks, good pubs and restaurants, lovely small, independent shops. As someone said previously, you will need to check the rules re dogs on beaches wherever you go.

Can I recommend the St Moritz Hotel near Rock? Gorgeous dog friendly spa hotel and you can walk out onto the coast path. They have apartments as well as rooms if you want to be able to do a mix of your own food and eating out. So many beautiful places to visit like Port Isaac, Padstow etc very nearby.

Bude is fabulous. We went in August and took dogs and they were on the beach with us so no dog ban in the summer although this was a few years ago. We ate out at different places each night. Lovely walks along the coast. Sea pool. Shops were good.

We stayed in an Airbnb in a very central location but we ate in a gorgeous hotel one night.

Sea Space by Porth beach in Newquay is cool and straight onto an amazing section of coast path. Or Watergate Bay hotel is fab a mile or 2 further along. Both are really smart but still really dog friendly. Both have. Good food places right nearby and loads more if you walk a mile or 2 along coast path. Sea space is a short walk into Newquay where obviously there’s a lot of cool bars and restaurants all are dog friendly. And it’s a lovely coast walk to Mawgan porth for more foodie choices. If you’re going after mid May you’d have to go somewhere more rural for dog friendly beaches but then won’t have much walkable.

Scarlet Hotel in Mawgan Porth. Magical. Honeymooned there and it was perfect.

Very much budget depending. But the Scarlett would be my dream honeymoon hotel in Cornwall. I think they allow dogs and the beaches around there are very dog friendly

Marazion is beautiful and a great base. There are two beaches, one is dog friendly all year round, the other dogs are allowed early and late in the day so easy/great exercising. There are a couple of dog friendly pubs, multiple cafe/eating places but it's also a great base for days out to Mousehole/Newlyn/Penzance to the West and down to Lizard in the East. Actually, we also looked to stay at Trinity Lighthouse at New Year and didn't go in the end, but it would make for a unique honeymoon location! That's at Lizard Point and there's another great pub there too!
