Nairn in late March- have I made a mistake?

Booked a week in a holiday park near Nairn for the last week of March. Reason for choosing this is ND DCs like the familiarity of this chain of holiday parks and a caravan means they can have their own bedrooms. However Im now doing more research and it seems some of the closest attractions (Cawdor Castle) don’t open until late March. Loch Ness which DS is keen to visit is about an hours drive away as is the Cairngorms so those will be two full days out.

any suggestions for activities closer to Nairn for the other days?

Thanks

Drive to Inverness and take a return train trip to Kyle of Lochalsh....stunning scenery!

Fort George (Historic Scotland)
Culloden Battlefield (NTS)
Dolphin watching at Chanonry Point and the Black Isle
Highland Wildlife Park for a day out

The beach!

Woolly hats, windproof jackets and buckets and spades.

Brodie castle will be open, possibly the playful garden depending which day you go, our Easter holidays start then so there should be more things open.
Morayvia near Kinloss should be open if he likes planes.
Theres a trampoline park in Inverness too, plus a large leisure centre. Lots of beaches too for walks.

Roseisle Country Park has good paths for walking and cycling, a play park and it's right beside the beach
Nairn beach is nice too
Brodie Castle Estate looks to be open - never been but it's apparently lovely
Duffus Castle near Elgin is a cool ruin and is beside an RAF base. First time we were there, fighter jets were landing - aware that could be a good or bad thing!
I don't think you've made a mistake at all but bring waterproofs and wellies!

Thanks for these suggestions, they are going on the list! We have National Trust so will definitely visit Brodie Castle- Im assuming our membership covers Scotland? Hmm will check that.

Yes, your national trust membership is valid in Scotland.

Yes.

English National Trust and Scotland are two separate organisations, but they have reciprocal membership arrangements so you still get members entry with your English cards.

You’ll get more than one day out of the mountains, weather permitting. The Spey valley is pretty nice – though I’ve only driven through it, I imagine there will be distillery tours on offer there.
