Inverness + whisky distillery weekend

I've booked flights to Inverness for DH's birthday - now I need to book visits/tours to whisky distilleries. Has anyone been on any organised tours where they take you to a couple of distilleries that they'd recommend?

If you've done a similar weekend, how many distilleries did you visit? I'm not a whisky lover, so don't have any idea.

I'd also like to do a walk or hike - does anyone have any suggestions on walks with great views and a good lunch stop??

The process of making whisky is the same in every distillery, it's only really the outputs that differ so i wouldn't do more than one tour. If you want to taste a range of whiskies you're better off finding a decent bar that does tasting sessions or whisky flights (particularly if one of you isn't a whisky lover!). They can also be quite remote and not that easy to get to without a car. And if you do have a car the driver can't drink!
Does he have a preferred distillery or style of whisky? From Inverness your closest ones are going to speyside malts.

Google "Whisky flight Inverness". The results should give you plenty of options in Inverness itself. There is a new distillery/brewery in Inverness (Uile bheist), so you could get a tour without having to travel outwith Inverness, but there are bars and hotels offering different whisky tasting sessions. Have you booked a hotel? Maybe look at what your hotel is offering or book a hotel which offers tastings.

Or are you planning to stay in whisky country? That will probably mean hiring a car. You would be able to tour multiple distilleries but, as others have said, one tour is much another (plus, as a driver/non-whisky drinker, you'll be bored stupid!).

How far do you want to walk/hike and do you want mountains? If you're staying in Inverness, you could go South to Aviemore and into the Cairngorms (take the mountain railway up to the restaurant?), or there are nice walks around the Beauly/Moray Firths - Chanonry Point for potential dolphin spotting, Ord Hill for views. Or stay in Inverness and do the Islands walk. Wherever you go, there are plenty places for lunch.

Oh thank you so much for the suggestions! Even though it's for DH's birthday, I'm really looking forward to seeing that area of Scotland. So many places around there sound fantastic - the tours look good, thank you. I haven't booked accommodation yet - I hadn't decided whether it's better to be in Inverness in a hotel or at a lodge/cottage in the countryside.

The countryside could be tricky unless you hire a car!
