What are the nicest places to live in Warwickshire/Leamington Spa

me and my DH are looking to leave London and open to places in the midlands. We are hoping to start a family. We have a dog so somewhere green is ideal and we have a large budget to buy so ideally looking for somewhere safe, pretty with a slight cosmopolitan atmosphere.

thanks all

For Leamington it’s Old Milverton and anywhere in the North Leam area really. After that, you’re moving out to the villages. Barford is quite pleasant and close to Warwick. Long Itchington is close-ish to Leamington with a lot of pubs for its size.

Bridge End is a road near Warwick Castle and it’s across the road from a park and also close to the tennis club. If I had a spare million that’s where I would look. The Myton area is also quite good.

Kennilworth has some lovely parts too.

I suggest coming up for about 3 days and just hitting the estate agents. If you have a good budget, there should be plenty of choice for very good areas.

There is a LOT of building work going on at the moment and so many new builds - I’m assuming you don’t want one of these but if you do, let the estate agents help.

Leamington is more lively than Warwick, so if you want to go out in the evenings or find things like evening classes/gym there's more choice there. Warwick does have some nice restaurants and pubs, and the weekly market is great. It's also lovely to wander round, it's a very pretty place to live, with a huge park that would be fab for kids, as well as the castle and racecourse. I had a relative living there, I loved going for visits, but he found it a bit restricted in terms of things to do for a young man.

Thank you this is a lot of food for thought and you’re correct! Estate agents it is. Thank you

warwick and Kenilworth are generally much quieter than leam - and leam has a big student population which men’s there’s more going on and a younger vibe. Personally I’d find the tourists in Warwick over the summer too annoying to live with - it’s very pretty and agree bridge street is cute, but I’d want something quieter. I’m not up on schools anymore but if you are planning a family I’d prioritise working round schools as your key criteria and getting in the right catchments

Harbury is another relatively lively village but cosmopolitan would not be the word!

Claverdon is lovely but quiet and a short drive to Warwick
