Travelling BA Business no bassinet

ARmum94 · 16/11/2025 11:42

Hi all, wondering if anyone can help. I’m travelling China to the U.K. (moving back home due to family members ill health) with my then just turned 6 month old. We are travelling with British Airways business. I booked the window cot seat. When I phoned to book the bassinet they said they didn’t have. But they told me because I booked the cot seat it automatically has a bassinet. I’m really not sure about this…

I guess I want to be prepared in case I don’t have a bassinet. I know we will have more space in business and baby can sleep with me, but he’s not great at contacting napping and I’m worried he’ll be uncomfortable/ I may roll on him. Any way I can make this a little easier for the two of us (not travelling is not an option haha). I’m in my own as husband has to join later in the month. Thanks!

Given the amount of ££ you have probably paid for the ticket, I’d be writing to BA for confirmation.

I didn’t think BA has bassinets in Club (or First)? (I used to fly with them a lot).

But I could be wrong so you really need to confirm with them. I thought bassinets are only available (first come first served) in World Traveller (economy) but even then they’re only really suitable for small babies you’re on the ‘edge’ of that scale with a 6 month old depending on how big your baby is.

Other option is to book them their own seat and you put them in a car seat in it but that won’t be ideal in Club as you won’t be able to see them plus obviously it will be more expensive.

The tickets were surprisingly a great deal from China to the U.K.! Like really great. But I’ll see if I can find out how to email. Last time I could only call and I don’t find them that helpful…

Yes they do! I’ve never flown with them before so maybe it is a recent thing?

definitely don’t want to book them their own seat 😅 but you’re right, they are quite big for their age so they may not even fit in.

They absolutely do have bassinets in club, usually 2 or 3 seats with them. They have 2 types a cot style bassinet and a bouncer style seat. Just request one as soon as you board, at 6 months your baby will likely be too big for the bassinet but should be ok in the bouncer. They carry them on all long haul aircraft so one should be available and I’m not sure what the lady on the phone meant?

Bassinets are available in WT, WTP and club on all flights and in some cabins with first.

We flew BA first class in 1a/3a (iirc)and had a bassinet in front of us.

However DD wasn't keen and so we used a spare bed and she slept flat out on it.

The air crew woke us if we needed seat belts on and we'd put her on our knee.

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 16/11/2025 12:12

Oh and DD was 11 months old and fit in the bassinet fine.

When mine were small (long time ago) you had to call customer services to book an infant onto the plane (was 10% of fare) one you already had your own ticket and you booked the bassinet as part of the phone call, the bouncer style seats were brand new the day I flew and there was the lead cabin crew guy and me with the instruction booklet (I thought I’d booked the cot style but dd had turned 6 months) pretty sure he should have been trained ahead of a paying customer but it was pretty self explanatory/good diagram on booklet! Definitely call and get assurance it’s booked

You don’t need to call, you’ll be able to see online that you’ve selected a bassinet position.

mydogisanidiott · 16/11/2025 12:20

There are bassinets in BA Club world. Different planes have different configurations. What plane are you on? Look at your booking in the BA and it will tell you.

there are AvGeeks out there who will 100% know this! There are lots of Facebook groups too and Reddit but I can tell you if you know the plane. #notanavgeekyet

I don’t recall seeing bassinets in Club World. If it’s Club Suite, it may be okay without bassinet?

Fionasapples · 16/11/2025 12:43

We travelled in World Traveller Plus with a couple with a 6 month old baby and he was too big for the bassinet.
